Changjiang Commercial Bank Data Platform Replacement with Independently Developed Technology
Project Background
Jiangsu Changjiang Commercial Bank previously relied on Netezza as its data warehouse to support data services such as querying, statistics, analysis, mining, and retrieval. However, with the vendor no longer providing follow-up support, continuing to use this product presented significant maintenance and upgrade risks.
At the same time, to align with national policies promoting the adoption of domestic technologies, the bank urgently needed to replace it with a highly efficient and stable data warehouse—one that could deliver robust support for ongoing data querying, statistics, analysis, mining, retrieval, and other processing needs.
Solutions
Migration scope: Thousands of tables, hundreds of TBs of data, and thousands of stored procedures with 98% syntax compatibility; minor differences can be easily handled through script-based batch replacement. Using the MTK migration tool to migrate table structures, process stored procedures and functions, and perform fast export/import of full or partial data—create external tables or export method to extract relevant data from Netezza as text files, then load into GBase 8a using the LOAD command.
Migration sequence: Migrate layer by layer following the warehouse tiers, validating each layer upon completion: TD Data (raw data layer) → OM Data (processed summary layer) → DM Data (data mart layer) → IM Data (reporting layer).
Data auditing: top-down auditing and bottom-up troubleshooting.
Application Effect
The entire cluster is built on x86 servers. It adopts an active-active cluster architecture to prevent business disruption under extreme scenarios. Dedicated loading machines are used to extract and load data, alleviating pressure on the cluster.
