Bohai Bank's Project for Replacing Email System with Independently Developed Technology

Bohai Bank's new email system adopted several GBase 8s V8.8 databases to replace foreign databases. GBase 8s achieved seamless data migration from the foreign databases in this project, not only ensuring the original

Bohai Bank New Email System Domestic Replacement Project

1 Project Overview

  • Background

Against the backdrop of deepening digital transformation and financial IT application innovation in the financial industry, Bohai Bank is actively responding to national policies by fully advancing domestic compatibility adaptation. By adopting a scientific approach based on actual conditions, proactively engaging with industry leaders, and implementing advanced solutions, the bank is establishing a robust domestic technology adoption mechanism. In this project, Bohai Bank plans to replace its email system with a fully domestic software and hardware platform, maximizing overall system performance and security while ensuring high cost-effectiveness.

  • Business Requirements

To provide high‑performance data support for the upper-layer email system and meet the bank’s database security and high‑availability requirements, this project needs to fulfill the following:

  • Domestic platform: The architecture supports domestically developed software and hardware platforms, including operating systems, servers, etc.

  • Seamless migration: Replace the legacy foreign database, migrate historical business data, and fully support the upper-layer Coremail email system.

  • Business performance: Improve the overall concurrency performance of the email system.

  • Implementation Requirements

  • Support high availability and disaster recovery management.

  • Support data storage encryption, database password encryption, data encryption and compression, and related encryption functions.

  • Support relevant operating systems and middleware that meet IT application innovation requirements.

2 Solution

Bohai Bank’s new email system uses multiple sets of GBase 8s V8.8 databases to replace the foreign database. In this project, GBase 8s achieved seamless data migration from the foreign database, preserving the original functionality while enhancing the overall architecture’s high availability and data security through an active-standby deployment model. Additionally, in close collaboration with the Coremail email system vendor, the business migration was successfully completed, and product deployment and adaptation were carried out smoothly.

3 Results and Value

By deploying GBase 8s V8.8 to support the Coremail email system, Bohai Bank achieved the intended construction goals, delivering dual value in both technology and business. The key outcomes are as follows:

Full platform localization: Built on an entirely domestic platform, the combination with GBase 8s V8.8’s advanced deployment architecture and high‑performance data processing capabilities has fully replaced the legacy foreign database.

Superior performance: GBase 8s V8.8 supports distributed, centralized, shared‑storage high‑availability, and multi‑site (two locations with three data centers) high‑availability deployments. It delivers high capacity, high concurrency, and high performance, supporting access by hundreds of thousands of users, thereby improving system concurrency and stability.

Security and controllability: GBase 8s V8.8 meets the security database (Level 4) standard. With its independently developed and secure‑controllable features, it comprehensively enhances the data security and business security of the bank’s existing data.

High‑quality service assurance: GBase’s comprehensive and integrated product services provide users with end‑to‑end support.
