Huishang Bank Data Processing System Domestic Replacement Project

1 Project Overview

Background

In recent years, Huishang Bank has experienced rapid business growth and innovation. To meet increasing business demands, the bank decided to upgrade its existing data processing system to handle and analyze massive amounts of data more efficiently and accurately.

Previously, Huishang Bank primarily relied on Oracle for data analysis. However, as data volumes continued to grow, Oracle exhibited limited performance and scalability in certain Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) scenarios. To address this challenge, the bank sought an alternative solution to meet its requirements.

After thorough market research and technical evaluation, Huishang Bank selected the domestic GBase 8a MPP database as the replacement.

Business Requirements

Huishang Bank aimed to migrate critical systems, including the Operational Risk Monitoring Platform, Individual Customer Management Platform, Off-site Audit System, and Suspicious Transaction Monitoring and Analysis System, from Oracle to the GBase 8a MPP database. This involved data migration, system re-engineering, and performance optimization, among other aspects.

Through this upgrade, Huishang Bank expected to meet the following requirements: adapt to the domestic IT ecosystem, including operating systems and servers; enhance data processing capabilities to support growing business needs; optimize data query performance for a better user experience; and achieve horizontal scaling to improve resource utilization.

2 Solution

To meet its data processing and analytics requirements, Huishang Bank implemented a solution built on the GBase 8a MPP database. By deploying over ten data nodes, the solution fully supports critical systems—such as the Operational Risk Monitoring Platform, Individual Customer Management Platform, Off-site Audit System, and Suspicious Transaction Monitoring and Analysis System—for data processing, analysis, and other tasks.

To ensure data migration accuracy and integrity, a seamless migration from Oracle to the GBase 8a MPP database was accomplished using data migration tools. Comprehensive data validation and verification were performed during the migration to guarantee data accuracy and consistency.

Additionally, to fully leverage the performance advantages of the GBase 8a MPP database, extensive performance tuning was conducted. By adjusting database parameters, optimizing storage configuration, and implementing monitoring and tuning measures, the system maintains excellent performance and stability even during peak hours.

3 Results and Value

After Huishang Bank adopted the GBase 8a MPP database cluster to provide data support, it achieved its expected goals and delivered the following value:

Full Domestic Technology Stack: The entire architecture is built on domestic technologies—including the operating system, servers, and databases—achieving full control and security of information;

Performance Improvement: After deploying the GBase 8a MPP database, data processing and query performance saw significant enhancement;

Enhanced Scalability: The distributed architecture of the GBase 8a MPP database provides excellent horizontal scaling capability. Huishang Bank can flexibly add nodes according to business needs, increasing processing power and storage capacity to accommodate growing data demands;
