To support the advancement of database technology in China and promote joint research between academia and industry, the China Computer Federation (CCF) Database Committee and GBase held the strategic partnership signing ceremony and seminar on database technology trends at GBase’s Tianjin headquarters on May 23. The event was co-hosted by the CCF Database Committee and Tianjin General Data Technology Co., Ltd.

The meeting brought together Li Zhanhuai, Director of the CCF Database Committee and Professor at Northwestern Polytechnical University; Chen Yueguo, Secretary-General of the CCF Database Committee and Professor at Renmin University of China; Wang Xin, CCF Database Committee member and Professor at Tianjin University; Wu Youxi, CCF Database Committee member and Professor at Hebei University of Technology; Shen Wei, CCF Database Committee member and Associate Professor at Nankai University; Zhao Wei, Senior Vice President and CTO of GBase; Zhang Shaoyong, General Manager of the Data Intelligence Product Business Division; Chen Wenting, General Manager of the Data Management Product Business Division; and Zhang Yi, Director of the GBase 8c Product Pre-research Department.

At the beginning of the meeting, representatives from both sides delivered speeches. Li Zhanhuai stated that this collaboration will strengthen cooperation between industry and academia, jointly deliver products that customers can use with confidence, and drive the development of database technology and accelerate industry progress. Zhao Wei pointed out that the goals of this strategic signing are to ‘introduce intelligence, gather talents, and jointly build a standards system,’ which will further deepen mutual collaboration. Through the establishment of joint laboratories, cooperative course offerings, and other initiatives, the partnership will expand industry talent cultivation, accelerate the development of China-developed foundational software technology, speed up the building of product standards systems, strengthen intellectual property alliance building, and enhance the international competitiveness of products and the company. Subsequently, both parties agreed that this signing will inject new momentum into the development of database technology in China and the integration of industry, academia, and research. Under the witness of the attending guests, the signing ceremony was successfully held.

After the signing ceremony, Li Zhanhuai, Chen Yueguo, and their delegation toured the company’s exhibition hall. Zhao Wei gave the attending experts a detailed introduction to GBase’s development history, honors, and the features, performance, and typical case studies of the three products: GBase 8a, GBase 8s, and GBase 8c. The experts congratulated GBase on its achievements and inquired in detail about product performance and application cases.

Afterwards, the participating experts discussed topics related to database technology development trends, sharing insights from academic research and industry practice perspectives.

Professor Chen Yueguo shared his views under the title ‘Some Reflections on the Normal Evolution of Database Technology.’ He believed that as database technology evolves, cloud databases will become a major development trend. Cloud-native databases may need to break away from existing architectures to achieve low coupling between key modules, enabling highly elastic scaling at the operator level on the cloud, and building further on existing storage-computation separation technologies. This will also facilitate the introduction of artificial intelligence into query optimization. At the same time, in addressing certain database technology bottlenecks, deeper integration of industry and academia is needed to create a better industrial ecosystem. The committee has also been making a series of new attempts this year to bring enterprises closer to university faculty and students, and to jointly build a vibrant community for the development of domestic databases, contributing collective wisdom and strength.

Professor Wang Xin shared on ‘New Advances in Knowledge Graph Data Management Technology.’ He introduced the latest progress in knowledge graph data management methods and technologies from three aspects: data models, storage solutions, and query processing. He also presented his team’s research achievements in this field in recent years and looked forward to the future development directions of knowledge graph data management technology.

Zhang Shaoyong delivered a keynote speech titled ‘GBase Cloud-Based Logical Data Warehouse: Empowering Industries to Tackle New Digital Transformation Challenges.’ He stated that in the context of digital transformation, the next-generation big data platform will evolve towards ‘cloud-native, distributed, converged, intelligent, real-time, and secure’ directions. He then introduced GBase’s technology development strategy and core products.

In the future, GBase will take this opportunity to consistently strengthen its technological foundation, continuously enhance product competitiveness, and contribute to the advancement of China’s database technology, forging ahead to become a trusted provider of database products and services.
