After review by the Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, the project "Key Technologies and Applications for Big Data Integration Management and Privacy Protection," jointly submitted by General Data Technology Co., Ltd. (GBase), Nankai University, and China Automotive Data (Tianjin) Co., Ltd., won the Second Prize of the 2020 Tianjin Science and Technology Progress Award.

As the era of big data arrives, high-value data sources play a crucial and central role in the big data industry chain, and there is an inevitable demand for effective big data integration and management platforms. With the implementation of the Cybersecurity Law in 2016 and the Cryptography Law in 2019, ensuring the integrity, availability, and confidentiality of data to protect it from information leakage and illegal tampering has become a core issue for the healthy development of information technology.

To address big data integration management, the "Key Technologies and Applications for Big Data Integration Management and Privacy Protection" project, building on GBase's 2014 Tianjin Municipal Science and Technology Commission major project "Domestic MPP Database for Big Data Applications" under the Technology Little Giant Leading Enterprise Cultivation Program, independently developed a big data platform product that integrates GBase 8a MPP, GBase 8s, and the open-source Hadoop framework. This product took the lead in China in industrializing an integrated platform product, promoting the development from "multiple architectures supporting multiple applications" to a "hybrid-application big data platform," with overall performance reaching the advanced level of similar international products. Furthermore, based on this big data platform, practical cryptographic solutions such as format-preserving encryption algorithms and searchable encryption were developed for protecting critical data within the big data management platform, aiming to enhance its security protection capabilities. The related technologies of this project have been applied in China's automotive data industry, providing support for building the China Automotive Research Center into a national-level industry data center.

The main research contents and features of the project are:

1. Big Data Management Platform Architecture: Adopts a fully parallel MPP + Shared Nothing distributed architecture, supporting a multi-active Master architecture; provides a unified interface for data storage and computation, enabling processing of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data; supports unified metadata management to build a unified data production process.

2. Database Big Data Fusion Management Technology: Unified management of all data types; integration of relational and non-relational algorithms; real-time data exchange between different processing engines, forming a closed loop from data ingestion to real-time application; cross-data center access technology enabling transparent access to data across multiple heterogeneous engines across data centers.

3. Encryption Engine Technology Based on Big Data Integration Management Platform: Overcomes the format changes caused by data encryption, ensuring that the ciphertext has the same data format as the plaintext; solves the problem of being unable to perform SQL queries on encrypted data by proposing efficient searchable encryption algorithms that support range queries, full-text searches, and fuzzy queries on ciphertext data.

Since its founding in 2004, GBase has consistently focused on the independent R&D and promotion of China-developed databases, providing users with a full-stack portfolio of China-developed database products and services. Its independently developed analytical database GBase 8a, transactional database GBase 8s, distributed transactional database GBase 8c, and directory database GBase 8d have been deployed by over ten thousand users in finance, telecommunications, government, energy, transportation, defense, enterprises, and other sectors. Looking ahead, GBase will further deepen its technological exploration in the database domain, delivering even more secure and user-friendly database products and services.
