GBase & Intel: GBase 8a Large-Scale Distributed Massively Parallel Processing (MPP) Database Cluster System Solution 3.0

In the big data era, enterprise data is divided into structured data, unstructured data, and semi-structured data. Structured data is of high value, while other types generally need to be structured before in-depth analysis and mining. GBase, in partnership with Intel, launched the GBase 8a large-scale distributed massively parallel processing (MPP) database cluster system solution to better address the storage and computing challenges of massive data.

GBase 8a MPP Cluster is a distributed database cluster system independently developed by GBase. It features columnar storage, intelligent indexing, high compression ratio, a shared-nothing architecture, exceptional high availability, online elastic scaling, and other capabilities specifically designed for massive data analytics scenarios. It has been deployed at scale in industries such as finance, telecommunications, and government and enterprises, with over 25,000 nodes managing more than 200 PB of data.

As foundational infrastructure software, GBase 8a MPP Cluster has maintained a close partnership with Intel. In 2019, GBase 8a and Intel jointly launched a select solution based on Intel Xeon processors to lower procurement and operating costs and simplify user deployment. In 2020, the joint solution with Intel and H3C achieved a top 3 ranking on the TPC-DS global benchmark list, delivering the highest single-node computing power and the best data loading performance.

With the introduction of the 3rd Gen Intel® Xeon® Scalable processors, and through optimization without changing any other server components—only the CPU—GBase 8a MPP Cluster's performance improved by 42%. The GBase 8a large-scale distributed MPP database cluster system solution co-launched by GBase and Intel can better serve users in finance, telecommunications, energy, and other industries, efficiently processing massive amounts of structured data and helping them easily navigate complex business environments and database challenges.
