GBase Wins 2021 ICT China Innovation Award for Best Solution with In-Depth Application of a Chinese Model
On September 27, 2021, the 2021 China International Information and Communication Exhibition opened in Beijing. General Data Technology Co., Ltd. showcased its distributed analytical database GBase 8a MPP, transactional database GBase 8s, and distributed transactional database GBase 8c. Through its collaboration with China Mobile Information Technology Co., Ltd. on the project “China Mobile Wutong Big Data Platform – Deep Analysis Cloud Empowers Scientific and Agile Decision-Making,” General Data Technology won the 2021 ICT China Innovation Award for Best Solution.
This year’s exhibition, themed “Innovation Lights Up the Digital Future,” attracted around 400 renowned enterprises from home and abroad. The concurrent “ICT China 2021 High-Level Forum” consisted of nearly 50 thematic and specialized forums covering topics such as 5G, dual gigabit, data centers, IPv6, industrial internet, BeiDou, artificial intelligence, blockchain, quantum computing, V2X, smart cities, data security, and emergency communications.
As a fundamental, strategic, and pioneering industry for the national economy, the information and communication sector plays a crucial supporting role in driving economic restructuring and social development. Going forward, the sector shoulders the important mission of building China into a manufacturing powerhouse, a cyber power, and a digital China. It must thoroughly implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important thought on cyber development, fully, accurately, and comprehensively apply the new development philosophy, and continuously promote high-quality development.
The “ICT China (2021) Case Collection and Release” activity was initiated by the organizers of PT EXPO CHINA. It aims to advance basic research in ICT applications, highlight breakthroughs in key technologies, frontier leading technologies, and disruptive innovations, provide strong support for building a manufacturing powerhouse, a cyber power, and a digital China, and identify “Chinese models” for in-depth ICT application in cities and industries.
The review was conducted by industry experts, strictly adhering to the principles of “fairness, impartiality, and openness,” to evaluate the shortlisted entries. Since the call for cases was launched in January this year, the organizers received numerous entries, generating widespread attention from key industry media and leading enterprises and sparking strong reactions across the industry. After the rounds of submission, review, and evaluation, a total of 12 outstanding urban innovation planning cases, 30 outstanding technology innovation application cases, 66 outstanding solution cases, and 6 outstanding enterprise innovation pioneer cases were selected. Among them, the project “China Mobile Wutong Big Data Platform – Deep Analysis Cloud Empowers Scientific and Agile Decision-Making,” a collaboration between China Mobile Information Technology Co., Ltd. and Tianjin General Data Technology Co., Ltd., won the 2021 ICT China Innovation Award for Best Solution.
The existing system faced challenges such as difficulty in data integration, limited data services, complexity in building a big data ecosystem, low data processing efficiency, and shallow data utilization. The Deep Analysis Cloud is a critical component of China Mobile’s centralized business analysis system, consisting primarily of three warehouses: the main data warehouse, the GBase 8a MPP data warehouse, and Hadoop Cloud. These warehouses are built on independent clusters, with data scheduling and transfer between them handled by the ETL platform.
In this project, GBase 8a MPP Cluster runs on low-cost x86 PC servers, offering high performance at a low cost. Its distributed computing and storage, combined with a hybrid architecture of Hadoop + MPP + main data warehouse, effectively supports massive data volumes. The system boasts strong scalability, supporting dynamic cluster expansion, with performance scaling linearly as nodes are added. Over 1,000 nodes have been deployed in the project so far.
As a leading Chinese database provider, General Data Technology is a national high-tech enterprise focused on database software R&D and services. Committed to independent innovation, the company holds over a hundred intellectual property rights, including software copyrights and patents in the database and big data fields. The GBase series of database products have passed certifications such as the large-scale special evaluation for distributed analytical database performance (4,096 nodes, the world’s largest), Level 4 classified protection, commercial cryptography product certification, and security testing for classified information systems. General Data Technology is one of the few independent database vendors in China that focuses on database product R&D and has achieved large-scale deployment in the financial and telecommunications sectors.
