GBase Database Wins the 2021 Government Informatization Product Technology Innovation Award

Published on 2021-10-27

On October 22, the 2021 Government Informatization Conference hosted by the China Information Industry Association was held grandly in Beijing. GBase was invited to attend the conference and, with its secure database management system (abbreviated as GBase 8s), won the ‘2021 Government Informatization Product Technology Innovation’ award in the ‘2021 Government Informatization Innovation Achievements and Excellent Cases’.

The conference was themed ‘Digital Empowerment: Making Services and Governance Smarter’. Over 400 government guests, experts, scholars, and business leaders engaged in in-depth discussions on accelerating digital development, activating the potential of data elements, and building a digital government. Yuan Mengjia, General Manager of GBase's Strategy Department, analyzed the data processing needs amid rapid digitalization and shared GBase's achievements in data management over the years.

Data Asset Management

Yuan Mengjia noted that with advances in smart terminals, 5G, intelligent manufacturing, and artificial intelligence bringing increasingly abundant data assets, coupled with the enactment of the Data Security Law, government data has become a core national asset. This demands highly reliable Chinese-developed databases to provide foundational data security safeguards.

GBase 8s is an enterprise-grade, high-performance, high-reliability transaction database independently developed by GBase. It features capabilities such as a shared-storage cluster (SSC) within the same server room, intra-city HAC, and remote RHAC combinations, achieving a two-city three-center high-availability disaster recovery solution. It meets stringent ACID requirements, supports business data exceeding 200TP, handles over 10,000 concurrent users, boasts an EAL4 security level, and has completed compatibility certifications with mainstream Chinese operating systems and middleware, providing a robust domestic ecosystem.

Meanwhile, GBase 8s offers easy-to-use migration tools that enable one-click migration of data and database objects. It can be deployed in classified information systems across party, government, and military sectors, in information systems involving public security, and in core areas of finance and telecommunications. It has been successfully implemented in dozens of projects, including the core business system of a local commercial bank, the State Grid's power dispatch control system, and the data platform for the 12306 ticketing system.

Unlocking Data Asset Value

To mine the value of data assets in massive data scenarios, data warehouses are required for analysis and processing. Traditional data warehouses face six major challenges: resource elasticity, increasing workloads, real-time processing, complex data types, deep mining, and data security.

GBase Cloud Data Warehouse GCDW (GBase 8a v9) features on-demand resource allocation and service model; data virtualization and federation; a next-generation vector computing engine; cross-engine data correlation and exchange for full-data fusion; in-database machine learning and deep data mining algorithm library; efficient transparent encryption and dynamic data masking. It meets the growing data storage, management, and processing needs of data-intensive industries, including data querying, statistics, analysis, mining, and backup.

GBase 8a has been listed in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Data Warehouse consecutively. In the data warehouse field, GBase ranks 7th worldwide. It passed the TPC-DS benchmark test with an outstanding QphDS score of 8,944,478, using the fewest test nodes among all vendors while achieving the highest average single-core computing power and optimal loading performance. GBase 8a is currently the Chinese-developed data warehouse managing the largest volume of data, with over 20,000 deployed nodes and over 200PB of data under management.

Empowering Digital Government

Currently, the GBase series databases serve over 700 customers in the government sector, including the National Development and Reform Commission, Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, and Ministry of Civil Affairs. In the National Unified Sharing and Exchange Platform project, with the National Information Center as the core, over 150 sets of GBase 8s were deployed across 88 national ministries and 32 provinces as front-end systems, enabling nationwide information exchange and sharing via the government extranet.

In the China Meteorological Administration's Radar Data Sharing System project, GBase's distributed analytical database GBase 8a was adopted to achieve unified management and service of the complete national meteorological dataset. Through nationwide distributed deployment and unified management, it enables management of the full meteorological dataset and provides platform computing services for product processing and mining analysis beyond numerical forecasting, effectively advancing the sharing of provincial and national radar data and the informatization and intensification of meteorological operations.

When the tide rises, row with vigor; when the wind blows, set sail on a far voyage! Amid the wave of digitalization, GBase will uphold its mission of ‘focusing on database software products and services and striving to become the most trusted database product supplier for users,’ safeguarding the construction of Digital China and digital government with technological innovation.
