GBase Database Drives Digital-Intelligent Local Management: Zero-Failure Operation for a Provincial Fiscal Big Data Platform
Recently, the GBase 8a distributed analytical database has been running with zero failure for over 400 days after deployment in a provincial finance department's fiscal big data platform, driving digital-intelligent fiscal management. By deploying a distributed cluster on Inspur domestic servers, it has replaced foreign products, delivering stable operation and exponential performance improvements in some areas, signaling that domestic solutions are evolving from functional to highly effective in certain scenarios.
Project Background
A provincial finance department is actively promoting comprehensive integration, deep aggregation, and in-depth fusion of data resources to build a fiscal big data platform that is vertically and horizontally connected, internally and externally interlinked. It plans to use 2-3 years to initially form a multi-party coordinated fiscal big data application system and achieve networked, data-driven, intelligent, and modernized fiscal management, advancing digital and smart finance, and gradually establishing a comprehensive, business-collaborative, vertically and horizontally connected, open and shared fiscal big data application development framework.
The platform adopts a “build once, deploy at multiple levels” architecture. The provincial finance department builds a unified provincial data center, while municipalities build sub-centers. This enables centralized management of provincial fiscal data, and allows each city to localize data on the provincial big data platform to meet their specific application needs, avoiding redundant investments.
Solution
To integrate provincial budget management, treasury payment, performance management, and government procurement systems, GBase 8a MPP Cluster was deployed on Inspur domestic servers to replace the Oracle-based fiscal big data platform. Through complex correlational computation, deep analysis, and data mining, it accomplishes data aggregation, model building and operation, and generates specific project tags, indicator libraries, etc. The GBase 8a database stores billions of records since 2014, covering provincial electronic tax receipts, tax collection, treasury daily reports, business registration, education enrollment, social insurance payments, non-tax receipts, departmental final accounts, and more, meeting both internal and external data sharing needs and enabling the sharing of provincial data resources.
GBase 8a MPP Cluster employs a Shared Nothing + MPP distributed flat architecture, which provides strong scalability. Currently, nearly ten nodes have been deployed, supporting dozens of terabytes of provincial data storage, and enabling high-performance distributed data processing as well as sub-second response for high-concurrency and large-scale complex queries. In addition, the multi-replica mechanism of GBase 8a MPP Cluster ensures high availability through data redundancy.
Results
After replacing the Oracle-based fiscal big data platform with GBase 8a MPP Cluster deployed on Inspur domestic servers, the results have been remarkable:
Enhanced fund management: The big data platform addresses both internal and external sharing needs, enabling sharing of provincial data resources. The GBase 8a database stores data from the central bank system, business administration system, fiscal integration, monthly revenue and expenditure reports, departmental final accounts, and general final accounts, among others. It supports and satisfies 88 multi-dimensional analysis themes, comprehensively improving fund management capabilities.
Improved work efficiency: By building a distributed cluster on Inspur domestic servers, GBase 8a has achieved 10-20 times faster batch processing performance than Oracle, and precise queries that were previously impossible on the Oracle-based platform now respond in seconds, significantly boosting work efficiency.
Scalable for future data growth: GBase 8a supports online linear scaling to meet the expansion needs of growing data volumes.
Comprehensively advancing fiscal digital intelligence: This fiscal big data initiative has innovatively expanded the application of big data in finance and received the Outstanding Contribution Award from the provincial finance department. Over 700 user accounts have been created for units at various levels, playing a vital role in strengthening budget execution analysis, enhancing tax security, and improving revenue quality.
