Work Requirements for Databases

I am a presales consultant from Sichuan Chengxiang Software Co., Ltd. Our company specializes in providing professional maintenance services for enterprise customers' foundational software. Therefore, operating systems, virtualization, middleware, cloud, and databases are all key parts of our daily service portfolio—especially Oracle, the longstanding leader in the database world. My own understanding of databases had previously been limited mainly to traditional ones like Oracle and MySQL.

Domestic Substitution Will Become the Future Theme of IT

In recent years, the push to move away from IOE (IBM, Oracle, EMC) and the banner of IT Application Innovation have been sweeping through the IT industry. The scope of domestic substitution has expanded from government and quasi-government sectors to the financial industry, which we know well. We realized that adopting homegrown alternatives is the mainstream trend for IT's future, and only by keeping pace with this trend can we maintain our competitive edge. Therefore, starting in 2019, we gradually defined our ecosystem, making domestic IT Application Innovation products the main focus of our future development. GBase (General Data Technology) became our partner for homegrown databases. As a presales professional, I am naturally expected to be familiar with the products we support, making it urgent to participate in product training. I had been looking for an opportunity to learn, and finally got the chance to join the GBase 8s training organized by Teacher Shen, Teacher Hao, and Teacher Ji.

First Impression of GBase: "Approachable"

First: Product Approachability

Whether it's the transactional GBase 8s or the analytical GBase 8a, the biggest impression that GBase database products left on us beginners was: ease of use. Compared to Oracle's complex installation process, GBase 8s can be installed with a single click, quickly getting us into actual product usage. At the same time, I believe that in future presales work, the ease-of-use feature of GBase will be more readily accepted by end customers, serving as a gateway to many client engagements.

Second: Service Approachability

I have had many interactions with GBase's services. The first time I engaged with their service was for a project requirement where an end customer wanted to learn about GBase products. I contacted the local sales representative, who warmly guided me to further understand the customer's needs and was responsive to every request. Both my service requests and those from the customer were met with timely responses. In subsequent project communications, every detail was handled with enthusiastic service. This training was just one of many service interactions. During this training, I saw Teacher Shen and Teacher Ji patiently answering all kinds of questions from participants, and Teacher Hao provided detailed guidance on operational steps. Once again, I witnessed GBase's commitment to service. There's an old saying: without comparison, there is no harm. In today's IT industry, where service is the primary model of competition, I am confident that GBase's competitiveness is beyond question.

Even the Best Wine Needs Marketing

Even the best products need promotion. Currently, in China's IT Application Innovation market, GBase does not have a clear market advantage. Therefore, finding effective ways to let end customers recognize GBase's products and be willing to try and explore them is GBase's vision, and also the hope we share as channel partners.

Hope GBase Gives the Public More Opportunities to Learn

Presales Training: The successful delivery of every project relies on presales professionals conveying information to customers. Only when presales fully understand the strengths of GBase's products can they effectively pass that information on to end customers.

Product Compatibility: The unique role of a database product makes it a silent workhorse. Only when applications recognize it can it be considered a good database product. Therefore, if most ERP, CRM, BOSS, and other systems can become compatible, we will have ample reason to recommend GBase products to end customers.

Continuous Service: GBase's service has shown us that a vendor's support can be so approachable. This kind of service can open doors not only with channels but also with end customers. By maintaining such attentive service and letting end customers feel its warmth, GBase will surely be able to reach the next level on its current foundation.

A Beautiful Vision

Finally, I wish GBase ever greater success in the future!
