"Seasoned" Programmers, "New" Academy — Top Students Share Their First GBase Experience

I was fortunate to attend the GBase 8a Cluster training class held by GBase in February 2022. The entire learning process has benefited me greatly. My main work experience revolves around application system development and operation & maintenance, and my understanding of databases has been limited to a usage level. Although I have many years of experience using Oracle/Informix, I have never undergone systematic learning; the skills and experience I have acquired are mostly from daily work accumulation and gathering information online.

After our bank procured the GBase database, I had my first real encounter with it. Questions such as: What data should be stored in GBase? How should the application architecture be adjusted? How can we fully leverage the performance of GBase? — all arose before us. Due to a lack of GBase-related knowledge, despite ongoing discussions and analysis, we never got authoritative answers. Just then, I received the notification about the GBase training. So I actively made a study plan, attended the training while relating it to our actual situation, and with the authoritative explanations of the trainer, the previous problems were solved easily, and the training also brought many insights to my practical work.

We used GBase in our bank's historical data query platform project. Leveraging GBase's large-scale, distributed architecture, we not only reduced the storage cost of historical data but also ensured query performance. GBase's support for JDBC and standard SQL greatly reduced the development difficulty and shortened the development cycle, allowing us to complete the project smoothly within a short period of time.

The training course arrangement was also very reasonable, requiring only 30 minutes to an hour each day without disrupting daily work. The after-class exercises served to reinforce the course material effectively, and the final quiz and certification served as a good reminder to review, thus making the knowledge more firmly mastered and more deeply understood. This down-to-earth training approach is also a great model for our bank's training efforts.
