My GBase 8s Database Training Reflection
By Luo Hongxian - Development Director
I am honored to have participated in the GBase 8s training program organized by General Data Technology Co., Ltd. This learning experience has been immensely rewarding and has reinforced my confidence in the strength of China-developed technologies. In my role, I lead a development team responsible for building products and application systems, which involves extensive database work. While I have years of experience with relational databases such as MySQL and Oracle, my expertise in China-developed database technologies was previously limited to on-the-job accumulation and online research.
GBase 8s is an enterprise-grade transactional database independently developed by General Data Technology. It supports Chinese national cryptographic algorithms, along with international database standards and development interfaces such as SQL92/99, ODBC, and JDBC. It accommodates centralized deployment, shared-storage high-availability deployment, and multi-site disaster recovery across three locations. With high capacity, high concurrency, and high performance, it delivers a cost-effective, general-purpose computing platform for ultra-large-scale data management. GBase 8s is ideally suited for OLTP application scenarios, including mission-critical core business systems in the financial and telecommunications industries.
Through nearly three weeks of training on GBase 8s, I have gained a thorough understanding of the database and deepened my appreciation for the advancements of China-developed databases. The program not only enhanced my theoretical knowledge of GBase 8s but also significantly improved my hands-on capabilities. I was truly able to apply what I learned, laying a solid foundation for operating and managing databases in future real-world projects.
The curriculum was also exceptionally well-structured. The entire course was divided into a learning phase and an examination phase spread over 14 days. This scientific and reasonable approach allowed us to master the fundamentals of the database step by step with ease. The daily commitment of about an hour allowed me to learn without disrupting my regular work. The final mock exam and certification process served as an excellent reminder to review thoroughly, which ultimately helped me retain the knowledge more firmly and understand it more profoundly.
Finally, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to General Data Technology for their dedicated efforts in organizing this training. I eagerly look forward to the future intermediate and advanced programs.
