Project Go-Live "G" Express | GBase Drives Sichuan Bank's Anti-Money Laundering System Into Operation

At the end of March 2023, Sichuan Bank's anti-money laundering system, built on GBase 8s, officially went into production. The new-generation AML system achieved stable and efficient operation on a full-stack IT Application Innovation (locally developed) environment.

As financial institutions' asset management businesses continue to grow, anti-money laundering systems built by banks and other financial players have become a critical line of defense for detecting potential financial crimes and combating corruption by reporting suspicious activities to law enforcement. To better support AML efforts, Sichuan Bank set out to build a new-generation anti-money laundering system. As a key project in the second phase of IT Application Innovation, the bank conducted extensive evaluations of mainstream domestic database products in terms of system stability and ease of migration. It ultimately chose GBase 8s, a shared-storage database cluster from GBase, as the OLTP database for this AML project.

The system runs on a fully nation-built software and hardware platform (ARM architecture, Kylin OS), with GBase 8s Enterprise Edition deployed in a two-node HAC high-availability active-standby cluster. At the database level, the new-generation AML system delivers minimal business interruption, zero data loss, and a seamless user experience. It also achieves load balancing and read-write separation, boosting concurrent data access while ensuring high data availability.

To provide around-the-clock vendor support, GBase assigned a dedicated post-sales and R&D team to work on-site throughout the system development and transformation, ensuring the project advanced smoothly and rapidly.

Furthermore, to address differences between the query optimizer algorithms of GBase 8s and the previous database, the technical team rewrote SQL statements. While ensuring result sets remained correct, the optimized SQL dramatically improved execution efficiency: a single processing task involving six multi-table join queries on tables with hundreds of millions of rows saw its runtime drop from 12 hours to 1–1.5 hours. This significantly surpassed the processing efficiency of the original system and met the performance expectations for the full domestic replacement of Sichuan Bank's AML system. Since going live, the new system has run stably and securely for over 100 days. GBase will continue working with Sichuan Bank to refine the system and push for even greater excellence.

The successful implementation of GBase 8s in Sichuan Bank's AML system is yet another powerful validation of GBase's solid, practice-rooted presence in the financial sector. It also provides a model for how financial institutions can unify domestic IT replacement with the iterative evolution of their IT systems. The introduction of GBase 8s boosted the efficiency of the bank's AML operations, reduced operational complexity, ensured AML business compliance, and greatly enhanced the accuracy and continuity of data storage and computing.
