Project Background
The One-Form Reporting System is a comprehensive, detailed, and standardized financial data framework developed by the National Financial Regulatory Administration (NFRA). It establishes a trusted regulatory data zone on the bank side, structuring processes for the collection, review, and application of regulatory statistics. The system explores an efficient and secure data usage environment, meeting NFRA requirements for standardized, timely, and flexible data reporting as well as foundational infrastructure. Shunde Rural Commercial Bank actively responded to the NFRA's pilot initiative, rapidly launched system construction, and completed system testing and go-live in less than three months.
Key Focus Areas
The integrated financial data reporting system consists of a submission zone built by the bank and a trusted zone used by regulators. In the submission zone, the database must provide large-capacity historical data storage, data replication mechanisms to ensure zero data loss and uninterrupted operations in the event of hardware failures, and high-performance data loading, processing, and verification capabilities. In the trusted zone, the database is required to deliver extremely high-performance complex query analysis and data security capabilities.
Requirements
The database supports the six functions required by the Unified Regulatory Reporting (Yibiaotong) specification: POSITION, STR_TO_DATE, DATE_TO_CHAR, LAST_MONTH, NOW, DATEDIFF.
The database manages 37 logical regions (one central administration and 36 provincial branches), each with 5 schemas—resulting in 185 schemas—and 90 tables per schema, totaling 16,650 tables.
The database delivers high-performance data loading, processing, and validation, with each operation completing in under 30 minutes at current data volumes.
The database supports online scaling to accommodate significant future data growth.
The database meets 24x7 business continuity requirements.
Delivers an all-domestic technology stack solution spanning servers, operating systems, and the database, with the database requiring full compatibility with Chinese-made hardware and operating systems.
Solutions
Yusys Technologies developed the application for Shunde Rural Commercial Bank's Unified Reporting System, which is built on General Data Technology's GBase 8a distributed analytical database cluster. The database layer is divided into two main clusters: the Submission Zone on the bank side and the Trusted Zone on the regulatory side. The Submission Zone cluster handles data loading, data masking, processing, and data verification; the Trusted Zone cluster provides regulatory authorities with tamper-proof, high-performance data query services. In this project, GBase 8a meets the requirements with its excellent performance design, data security, high cluster availability, and online scaling capabilities. For the platform's parameter configurations, scheduling flow configurations, reporting rule configurations, logs, and alerts, three sets of GBase 8s primary-standby clusters (one each for the Submission Zone, Trusted Zone, and Trusted Zone disaster recovery) from General Data Technology serve as the repository for persistent storage of the system management module.
Business Processing Flow of the Unified Reporting System:
1) ODS Data Unloading: Unload data from the ODS layer.
2) Data Processing in the Submission Zone: Load data into the Submission Zone's GBase 8a via the USE tool, then run data verification programs, and business personnel fill in relevant data.
3) Data Processing in the Trusted Zone: Transfer the data unloaded by the USE tool from the Submission Zone to the Trusted Zone, load it into the Trusted Zone's GBase 8a again using the USE tool, and run data verification programs to ensure data accuracy.
4) Data Reporting: After all verifications and data filling are completed, report the data to the relevant regulatory authorities.
Application Results
Operational Status
This project began testing in May 2024 and completed its initial go-live by August 2024. Since going live, the total data volume has reached 3 TB. The system ingests approximately 80 million rows daily, with the largest table receiving an incremental load of around 20 million rows per day, and total daily file intake of about 30 GB. The cluster completes daily data loading in roughly 15 minutes, data processing in 20 minutes, and data validation in 25 minutes.
Outcomes and Value
Rapid System Deployment: The GBase database has been adapted and applied in projects with developers of the Yibiaotong (Unified Regulatory Reporting) system, including Zhongjing Huizhong, Tianyang Hongye Technology, Yusys, Yinfeng Xinrong, Nanjing Kerong, DHC Software, Jiangsu Ruixi, ChinaSoft, and Suzhou Yinfeng Ruizhe. This enables customers to achieve the fastest possible system rollout.
High Customer Satisfaction: The database meets the functional requirements of the NFRA’s new Yibiaotong standard. Deployed GBase 8a systems support production cases with hundreds of databases and over one million tables, far surpassing the new standard’s requirement of 185 schemas and 16,650 tables. Its exceptional performance ensures data loading, processing, and validation are all completed well within the mandated 30-minute window.
Self-Reliant and Controllable: The solution serves as a model for the financial industry’s “de-IOE” strategy, accelerating the adoption of domestically developed, secure, and controllable regulatory technologies. It promotes the evolution of a homegrown technology architecture. The fully compatible, locally adapted GBase 8a and GBase 8s databases support all domestic CPUs and operating systems, completely fulfilling banking customers’ requirements for a 100% localized system and providing robust data security for their core business systems.
