GBASE Supports Luzhou Bank's Core Banking System Modernization with Independently Developed Technology
Project Background
Luzhou Bank is a joint-stock commercial bank in Luzhou, Sichuan Province. It was listed on the Main Board of the Hong Kong Stock Exchange in December 2018, becoming the second listed bank in Sichuan Province and the first listed bank among prefecture-level cities in western China. By the end of 2024, its total assets reached RMB 171 billion. Driven by national efforts to explore secure and controllable fintech products and strengthen information security in the banking industry, Luzhou Bank—as a pilot project for financial institutions to adopt domestic alternatives—began revamping its legacy IT systems. The bank carried out a comprehensive domestic replacement and upgrade of the involved software and hardware, and actively advanced the transformation and migration of its core banking system.
The core banking system served as Luzhou Bank’s domestic technology replacement pilot. It required an end-to-end, domestically developed platform solution covering servers, storage, and databases—with full compatibility for domestic hardware platforms, including read/write splitting, processing of hundreds of millions of data records, and 24/7 business continuity. The system had to use database clusters to ensure high availability and stability.
Solutions
This project is built on a fully localized software and hardware stack, utilizing Huawei Taishan servers and the NeoKylin operating system, with GBase 8s Enterprise Edition from General Data Technology Co., Ltd. (GBase) as the database. Based on hardware compatibility, the deployment adopted GBase 8s's SSC and HAC data cluster solution. The core transaction system uses GBase 8s's Connection Manager (CM) to manage the SSC and HAC clusters. In the event of a primary database node failure, a standby node can take over as the primary within minutes. The failover is completely transparent to the application system, minimizing service interruption, ensuring zero data loss, and delivering a seamless user experience. It also provides load balancing and read/write splitting, increasing concurrent data access while safeguarding high availability.
Application Results
1. Achieved a Full Domestic Technology Transformation of the Core Business System, from Hardware to Software
The deployment uses Huawei Taishan servers with Kunpeng 920 processors, Huawei HW18500F storage, and the GBase 8s database from General Data Technology—delivering a fully localized, all-China technology stack.
2. SSC and HAC Solutions Boost Data High Availability
They ensure high data consistency across nodes. When the primary node fails, the standby node seamlessly takes over via the CM management node, minimizing service disruption with zero data loss and a smooth user experience.
3. High Performance and Stability
On the all-China technology platform, the new core business system achieved over 3x improvement in both TPCC and business TPS performance compared with the previous platform. Leveraging GBase 8s's load balancing and read-write separation, the system handles large-scale concurrent transactions in real time and has been running stably since its launch.
