Deputy District Mayor Zhang Guihua Leads Delegation to Inspect GBase

On September 13, 2022, to implement the national priority of "stabilizing growth, bolstering market entities, and ensuring employment," Zhang Guihua, Deputy District Mayor of Binhai New Area, along with leaders from the District Bureau of Industry and Information Technology and the High-tech Zone Management Committee, visited and inspected General Data Technology Co., Ltd., a representative enterprise in IT application innovation. They then held an in-depth symposium with Zhao Wei, Senior Vice President of GBase, and key team members, discussing the development of IT application innovation enterprises during the pandemic and government-enterprise collaboration.

Attendees included Zhang Guihua; Zhou Fengliang, Deputy Director of the District Bureau of Industry and Information Technology; Nie Delei, Director of the Information Industry Office of Binhai New Area Bureau of Industry and Information Technology; Chen Jinhong, Deputy Director of the High-tech Zone Management Committee; Sun Dayong, Director of the High-tech Zone Economic Development Bureau; and from GBase, Senior Vice President Zhao Wei, Chief Technology Officer Yang Weiwei, General Manager of North China Marketing Department Chen Mingzhi, and Deputy Director of the President's Office Liu Hui.

At the meeting, GBase Senior Vice President Zhao Wei introduced GBase’s development from three dimensions: equity structure, senior governance mechanisms, and core talent composition. He emphasized that databases are the core cornerstone of IT systems with extremely high technical barriers, placing great importance on sustained R&D innovation capabilities, which require ample talent reserves and capital investment to ensure long-term product evolution and commercial viability.As a pioneering IT application innovation enterprise in Binhai New Area, GBase is rooted in Tianjin’s fertile ground for IT innovation. Its core products are fully independently developed with secure and controllable underlying code, making it one of China’s first batch of “Specialized and Sophisticated” little giant enterprises. The GBase series of database products have been deployed at scale in finance, telecommunications, national defense, energy, and transportation sectors, serving many key national users. Two decades of focus have cemented its leading position in niche segments.

Chen Jinhong, Deputy Director of the High-tech Zone Management Committee, noted that GBase is a crucial link in Tianjin’s IT application innovation industry chain, a rare innovator that has achieved outstanding results in the foundational software field. The new area has long supported GBase’s development, responding to national policies with a series of preferential policies and financial support for enterprises like GBase. A dedicated “IT Application Innovation Development Task Force” has been established, and high-frequency supply-demand matchmaking events for IT application innovation enterprises will soon be held to coordinate resources, bridge supply and demand, and accelerate the sector’s development.

Addressing the pandemic’s impact, Zhao Wei acknowledged that the pandemic has affected business operations, order delivery, and project payments. However, leveraging its deep technological reserves and market-oriented scientific management, GBase quickly adjusted and overcame difficulties, now resuming normal operations. Amid favorable policies and broad market opportunities, GBase will continue to take root in Tianjin, serve the city, and contribute greater technological strength to building a digital Tianjin and the IT application innovation industry cluster.

Concluding the meeting, Zhang Guihua highly affirmed GBase’s achievements. She stressed that in these special times, enterprises must stay the course and overcome challenges together. As a major IT application innovation player in Tianjin, GBase will continue to receive support from the new area in regional market development and capital introduction. She encouraged GBase to stay confident, pursue innovation, and uncover new demands and business opportunities emerging in the new era, seizing the window of opportunity for China’s IT application innovation. She urged the company to focus on its superior products and areas, deepen its presence in niche segments, and work hand in hand with peer enterprises and universities in Tianjin to grow stronger, expressing hope that GBase will contribute even more to the digital economy and IT application innovation cluster of Binhai New Area and Tianjin.
