GBase 8s empowers AFC, ACC, and CLC systems for Shenzhen Metro Line 14.

On October 28, as the first passenger train of Shenzhen Metro Line 14 slowly pulled into Gangxia North Station, the city's “two lines, three hubs” officially opened to the public. The Automatic Fare Collection (AFC) system, the AFC Clearing Center (ACC), the Multi-line Central Computer System (CLC), and the internet ticketing management system all adopted the GBase 8s database management system as the underlying database.

With the opening of Line 14, Shenzhen’s urban rail transit network now comprises 14 lines with a total operating mileage of 483 km. Line 14 is the longest route in the fourth phase of Shenzhen’s rail transit construction. It passes through Futian, Luohu, Longgang, and Pingshan districts, with 18 stations, including 4 hub stations and 9 interchange stations. The full journey takes about 55 minutes, reducing the travel time from Futian to Pingshan to just 40 minutes.

The AFC system of Shenzhen Metro Line 14 and the central ACC&CLC adopted GBase 8s as the underlying database. During system construction, GBase 8s’ high concurrency, high stability, and strong security fully satisfied the requirements of Line 14.

It is expected that six months after opening, average weekday passenger traffic on Line 14 will reach 320,000 trips. GBase 8s ensured the smooth launch of Shenzhen Metro Line 14 with its high availability, high capacity, high concurrency, and high performance.
