GBase 8a MPP Cluster (abbreviated as GBase 8a) is a distributed logical data warehouse from GBASE designed for business analytics and business intelligence. It is also the first distributed relational database cluster in China to support converged data processing.
This solution deploys GBase 8a on the Phytium Tengyun S2500 processor, fully leveraging GBase 8a’s unique features such as its federated architecture, massive data distribution, efficient compression, optimized storage structure, intelligent indexing, flexible data distribution, and high-performance online scaling. It brings into play core strengths including high concurrency, high availability, robust security, easy maintenance, and fast data loading, delivering a professional massive data storage database that is ideally suited for analytical application scenarios.
Solution Details
This solution is jointly launched by GBASE and Phytium. GBase 8a is a columnar-based distributed logical data warehouse built on an MPP + Shared Nothing federated architecture. Nodes communicate over a TCP/IP network, and each node uses local disk for data storage. The management cluster, scheduling cluster, and computing cluster support asymmetric deployment.
GBase 8a is currently the largest-scale MPP database cluster to have passed the CAICT foundational capability test for large-scale capacity of big data products, passing all 51 test cases. GBASE is also the first Chinese database vendor to complete a specialized performance benchmark on a 4096-node cluster. The solution is built on the Chinese Phytium Tengyun S2500 platform, deploying GBase 8a MPP Cluster on multiple devices over a 10 GbE network. The deployment architecture is shown below:

Implementation Results
GBase 8a on the Phytium domestic computing platform underwent comprehensive functional testing for scaling out and in, service management, upgrades, node replacement, backup and recovery, dblink access, VC management and mirroring, data loading and export, and user security. Performance tests were conducted using TPC-H and TPC-DS tools with 1 TB and 3 TB data loads, and results met expectations. A long-duration stability test was also performed on TB-scale data using TPC-H and TPC-DS models, running mixed workloads of DDL, DML, and queries concurrently, along with data redistribution operations. Throughout testing, no result set errors or node anomalies occurred. The solution satisfies requirements for massive data storage and analytics, supports 24/7 uninterrupted stable operation, ensures zero data loss, and meets security requirements.
