Smart Healthcare Upgrade: GBase Database Powers Full Go-Live of the Information System at Suzhou Branch of the First Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine

Recently, the Suzhou Branch of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine officially opened. To build a new information system aligned with the development needs of a smart hospital, the hospital partnered with GBase (General Data Technology Co., Ltd.) and leveraged the GBase database to achieve smooth migration and stable support of core business systems, successfully completing the upgrade of its digital infrastructure.

 

Project Core Requirements: Addressing Key Challenges in Smart Hospital Construction

Healthcare information systems demand extremely high levels of continuity, security, and stability. This project faced multiple challenges during the upgrade:

Stringent Business Continuity Requirements: The hospital must ensure system stability and high availability to meet business continuity demands. The migration must achieve minimal service disruption, or even a "zero-perception" switchover.

High Compatibility and Smooth Transition: The existing system was built on Oracle, with a large number of stored procedures, complex queries, and proprietary syntax, requiring maximum reduction in code rewriting and adaptation costs.

Full-stack Domestic Ecosystem Adaptation Pressure: The project required end-to-end support for domestically produced hardware, operating systems, and databases, posing a systemic test of the database’s compatibility, stability, and ecosystem integration capabilities.

High Concurrency and Performance Assurance: The new system must support real-time concurrent access by all departments across the hospital, and after data migration, maintain response speed and stability no lower than the original system.

 

Solution: A "High Compatibility + High Availability" Architecture for Smooth Migration and Stable Support

Achieving Smooth Oracle Migration with High Compatibility

Leveraging the GBase database's high compatibility with Oracle data types, SQL syntax, and various database objects, the project devised a minimal SQL rewrite plan to complete the database replacement. After migration, synchronized comparisons between the old and new systems, along with comprehensive regression and stress tests, verified that system functionality and stability matched the level of the original Oracle database.

Ensuring Continuity of Healthcare Services with a High-Availability Architecture

Using GBase’s primary deployment solution, the system can automatically switch nodes upon failure, effectively safeguarding the stability and continuity of core business services.

Full-Process Migration Support and Adaptation to China’s Domestic IT Ecosystem

The GBase database provided end-to-end technical support covering installation, deployment, data migration, and go-live drills. By leveraging GBase’s ability to integrate with a fully domestic platform of servers, storage, operating systems, and middleware, a secure and reliable domestic IT foundation was established.
