GBASE was invited to participate in the Database Industry Development Symposium hosted by the National Industrial Information Security Development Research Center

On July 16, 2020, the National Industrial Information Security Development Research Center organized a symposium on the database industry. More than ten representatives from industry application solution developers, database vendors, and Internet data service providers were invited to attend and discuss the development of China's database industry under current circumstances. GBASE Chairman Ding Mingfeng was invited to deliver a pragmatic and fact-based keynote speech.
 

GBASE Chairman Ding Mingfeng believes that four critical issues must be addressed for the development of China's database industry:
 

1. Database Standards

As the foundation of the modern information industry, establishing standards that benefit the database industry is the foremost and most serious issue that must be addressed for overall industry development.
 

2. Commitment to Building Great Products

For database companies, products are the cornerstone, and building great products is the path to success. A truly good product matures through user-driven iteration, requiring continuous customer feedback and refinement until it meets market demands.
 

3. Legal Risks in Open-Source Ecosystems

Open-source software has become the infrastructure for numerous enterprises and software projects. However, many developers lack a thorough understanding of open source. Therefore, we must take the legal risks in the current open-source ecosystem seriously and work to establish and refine China's open-source framework promptly.
 

4. Talent Development

Ding Mingfeng believes that talent development should focus on building capabilities in higher education. For foundational software talent, greater emphasis must be placed on fundamental skills. From the database perspective, deepening research into core database principles will help cultivate more specialized and industry-oriented technical talent, preventing a disconnect between education and real-world application.
 

Chairman Ding Mingfeng’s sincere and pragmatic remarks were well recognized by the attending leadership from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, who called on subsequent company representatives to be equally down-to-earth and deliver valuable, actionable insights.
