Product Introduction and New Version Updates
GBase 8a MPP Cluster (hereinafter referred to as “8a Cluster”) is a large-scale distributed parallel database cluster system independently developed by GBase, a leading provider in China. It meets the growing demands of data-intensive industries for data analysis, data mining, data backup, and ad-hoc queries. It has been deployed at scale by hundreds of users, including the China Banking Regulatory Commission, Agricultural Bank of China (Head Office), China Mobile, and the General Administration of Customs. Currently, it has over 35,000 deployed nodes and manages more than 400 PB of data.
Version 9.5.3 delivers over 100 new features and enhancements compared to V9.5.2:
1. Enhanced Stability: GCware and GCluster are decoupled and separated, allowing the GCluster scheduling cluster, Data computing cluster, and GCware management cluster to be deployed independently with clearer responsibilities. A node status monitoring mechanism improves overall cluster stability, and the node replacement process is more stable;
2. Performance Improvements: Supports multi-instance deployment to boost overall cluster performance, especially on NUMA architecture servers. Enhanced performance for small file loading, UNION queries, and dblink operations in high-latency network scenarios;
3. Greater Compatibility: Improved function and syntax compatibility with heterogeneous databases such as Oracle, Greenplum, and Teradata; support for loading data in ORC and JSON formats;
4. Enhanced Security: Refined DROP privilege and data unmasking access controls; transparent storage encryption now supports China’s national cryptographic algorithms; support for Kafka security authentication.
GBase 8a MPP Cluster GDCA certification training has been upgraded with 40% new content. Key changes:
1. Gcware and GCluster are separated and can be deployed on different nodes.
2. GBase 8a provides a v9.5.3 nolicense free version, so no license application is required.
3. GCluster has no node limit; Gcware is limited to 64 nodes.
4. Training on the principles of the GBase 8a database v9.5.3 and its new features.

Course Introduction
This course starts from scratch, covering the principles and basic usage of the 8a Cluster database. The program is divided into learning and examination phases. It includes 10 days of study, one mock exam, and two certification exam attempts. Delivered as an online learning bootcamp, the well-structured schedule helps participants progressively master domestic database fundamentals in an easy-to-follow manner.
Learning Objectives:
Understand the working principles, features, and deployment strategies of the 8a Cluster, and establish fundamental concepts of MPP database architecture.
Learn how to install, manage, and maintain the 8a Cluster database, and troubleshoot cluster status anomalies.
Master data operations on a single virtual cluster database, including CRUD operations, user privilege management and assignment, and querying system tables.

Hear from Past Trainees
IT Product Manager at Jiangsu Mobile: The instructor’s teaching was like a sumptuous feast, beautifully presented in the classroom. As the saying goes, “A single conversation with a wise man is better than ten years of study.” The instructor shared his experience unreservedly, explaining profound concepts in simple terms—truly impressive.
IT Department Manager at a bank in Macau: This training was conducted remotely, which was very convenient. Not only was the training free, but cloud servers were also provided for practice. The most important aspect was that the video explanations were very detailed, and the instructor answered questions in the group patiently and promptly. Moreover, we came with questions and learned with a clear purpose, which made it more targeted. For example, the lesson on the client helped us correct a previously inaccurate usage.
Auditor at Jiangxi Bank Head Office: The training model was innovative, focusing on the participants’ experience rather than a one-way lecture format. It emphasized interaction and communication. After the training, the instructor organized and shared course notes with us. There were also after-class exercises and periodic tests, which played an important role in reinforcing learning outcomes and verifying the effectiveness of the study. The instructor’s Q&A and detailed explanations provided a great starting point for learners with various backgrounds to quickly grasp, deepen understanding, get hands-on with, and subsequently use the product.
Technical Expert from the IT Department of Bank of Chongqing: To address the performance bottlenecks of centralized databases in data analysis systems, Bank of Chongqing conducted comparative tests on multiple products in terms of high availability, stability, cluster functionality, and performance. Ultimately, we selected GBase 8a MPP Cluster to build our next-generation data warehouse. Through this training, I gained a deeper understanding of the GBase 8a MPP Cluster’s architecture, core technologies, applicable scenarios, and SQL usage, as well as valuable hands-on practice, which has built a technical foundation for our future work.
Big Data Project Manager at HAND Enterprise Solutions: This training spanned over ten days, but just 1-2 hours a day was enough. It covered everything from GBase’s history and features to deployment, installation, routine use, and monitoring—very comprehensive. There were unit quizzes that you had to pass before taking the final certification. Those who performed well and actively participated also received waivers for exam and certificate fees. I have to say, the arrangement was spot-on, with both a carrot and a stick—a rewarding experience! I really like this model; it motivates everyone’s interest and encourages broad participation, while also preventing the course from becoming a mere formality. I highly recommend that those who haven’t joined yet enroll in the next session.
Architect at a document technology company in Hubei: The free GBase training opportunity gave me a completely new perspective on GBase’s products. The training covered a lot of content; I spent a few days studying it intensively, and the material in the videos was very useful. I tested most of it, and the database’s SQL compatibility was excellent, compatible with most mainstream databases except for a few specific syntaxes. I also tried migrating some previous projects to the GBase database, and it felt very straightforward. One thing I particularly want to highlight is that the training is free, whereas similar vendor training can cost thousands of yuan. I think this shows real commitment, proving that GBase is building a genuine ecosystem rather than just chasing profits. I believe products made by such a conscientious company are bound to be outstanding.
