@all, Only 3 days left to sign up as a GBASE beta tester with rewards! Register now!
The Second GBase 8s New Version Beta Test with Rewards is in Full Swing, volunteer recruitment closes in 3 days. On September 11 at 14:00, we will host an online Briefing Session. We cordially invite users, partners, and trainees who are passionate about GBase database development to sign up for the beta test!
In 2024, after 20 years of development, GBase database has navigated intense internal and external competition, weathered ups and downs, and stayed true to its original mission while forging ahead. It has been widely adopted across finance, telecommunications, government, enterprise, and security sectors, amassing a large user base and numerous partners.
In the first quarter of this year, we successfully held the first GBase 8s New Version Beta Test with Rewards. Thanks to the joint efforts of volunteers and our R&D team, the GBase 8s database recently released the latest GBase 8s V8.8_3.6.1 version, incorporating 70% of the nearly 100 issues and suggestions raised by volunteers. In light of this, GBASE is set to host the second GBase 8s New Version Beta Test with Rewards this September. We look forward to more volunteers participating, verifying the product in more real-world scenarios, and actively providing feedback on issues and improvements. This will help continuously enhance the GBase database experience, making the new version more robust and capable in heterogeneous database compatibility and tool usability, as we work together with database users to build an outstanding database product tailored to the Chinese market.
We have prepared rewards of up to 2,000 RMB for this event. Come and join the beta test!
Event Timeline
1. Volunteer Recruitment: September 2 - September 11, 2024
2. Testing Period: September 12 - October 13, 2024
3. Evaluation Phase: October 14 - October 18, 2024
4. Prize Distribution: October 21 - October 25, 2024
What Will Volunteers Do?
Based on your own database experience, you will install, deploy, and test the new GBase 8s version and its tools. This includes functional testing, usability assessment, and maintainability checks. Document issues and improvement suggestions in a test report, covering but not limited to the following aspects.
1. Test Environment Description: Describe server hardware/software, database version, tool names and versions, etc.
2. Test Method Description: Describe testing tools, scenarios, test cases, test data, hours spent, etc.
3. Bug/Issue Reporting: Re-test identified issues to ensure reproducibility. Document each issue in detail, including the situation, test case, error messages, preliminary analysis, and suggested fixes. If multiple issues are found, record them separately. Severity levels from low to high are: Minor, Moderate, Major, Severe, Crash.
4. Submit Reasonable Feature Requests: Identify unsupported common SQL statements, missing functionalities, or usability/optimization opportunities in 8s. Each request should clearly describe the use scenario, functional definition, and provide examples of how other databases implement the feature for reference.
Note:
1. Test reports must be published on the GBase Community (https://www.gbase.cn/community). Volunteers need to register an account and request the community admin to grant posting permissions in the designated beta test forum section before publishing. Staff will review submissions in the background, and content between volunteers is not visible to each other.
2. All submitted issues and requirements will be reviewed and verified by staff, serving as the basis for rewards. Please ensure all content is your original work.

The evaluation consists of two parts: issue/requirement validation and test report excellence awards.
1) Issue and Requirement Validation:
The evaluation panel will review the issues and requirements posted by volunteers in the background on a weekly basis, and communicate with volunteers in the WeChat group as needed. Uncontested issues and requirements will be confirmed; if there is any dispute, volunteers can revise the content and resubmit for review the following week.
2) Test Report Excellence Awards:
After the testing period ends, volunteers submit the summary post (complete report). The evaluation panel will score based on the completeness and contribution indicators of the test report, including dimensions such as test environment, test method, validated issue severity levels, requirement levels, etc., and reward accordingly.
