GBase teams up with Luzhou Bank to establish a benchmark case in financial IT application innovation

From June 16 to 18, the 2026 China International Financial Exhibition, themed “Building a Strong Financial Foundation, Innovating with Digital Intelligence for the Future,” grandly opened at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition and Convention Center. Concurrently, a special forum titled “Mutual Promotion of Digital and Intelligent, Deep Utilization for Long-term Progress — Financial Database Innovation Empowering High-Quality Development of Digital Finance” was held, delving into topics such as financial database architecture transformation and database construction and application in the AI era. At the forum, Qin Kaijiang, General Manager of the Technology Department of Luzhou Bank, was invited to deliver a keynote speech on “Innovations and Practices of Financial Distributed Database Technology,” highlighting the application of GBase 8c, the next-generation AI-native database independently developed by GBase, at Luzhou Bank, providing frontline experience for the homegrown database transformation in the financial industry.

In fact, the IT application innovation collaboration between GBase and Luzhou Bank has penetrated multiple critical systems. From core transaction processing to data warehousing, from credit services to e-banking, GBase 8a, GBase 8s, GBase 8c — three database products — have been fully integrated into Luzhou Bank’s business system.

GBase 8s: Homegrown Replacement for Core Transaction System

In 2019, during the relocation of its production data center, Luzhou Bank replaced the IBM Informix database with GBase 8s, completing the domestic replacement of the database for its core transaction system.

GBase 8a: Data Lakehouse Platform and Data Warehouse Homegrown Modernization

Luzhou Bank replaced its DB2 data warehouse with GBase 8a to build an enterprise-grade data lakehouse platform, handling centralized data storage, analytical computation, and data service support. The platform now powers multiple applications, including dashboards, BI analysis, operations management large screens, data query services, and downstream data file delivery. The production cluster comprises dozens of nodes, with a total data volume of approximately dozens of TB. After go-live, query response improved from several minutes to sub-second levels, and offline batch processing performance increased significantly.

GBase 8c: Credit System, E-Banking, and Distributed Core

Luzhou Bank’s credit system and e-banking platform had long relied on a patchwork architecture of Oracle and multiple MySQL shards, with inconsistent standards and fragmented operations that struggled to support continuous business growth. Luzhou Bank chose to collaborate deeply with GBASE GBase, using GBase 8c as the unified foundation to reshape the data architecture from the ground up.

GBase 8c supported the migration with two core capabilities: first, a multi-compatibility mode, meaning a single cluster simultaneously supports both Oracle and MySQL syntax, eliminating the need for massive code rewrites and greatly reducing migration risk; second, built-in high availability with automatic node failover within seconds, synchronous replication across two data centers in the same city plus asynchronous replication for remote disaster recovery, ensuring zero data loss.

After project launch, the results were remarkable: overnight batch jobs were reduced from 2.5–3 hours to about 30 minutes, data synchronization dropped from 2–3 hours to minutes, and failover shifted from manual operation to automatic within seconds. Core query response efficiency improved by 44%. Data links across all e-banking channels were connected, and core data — customers, accounts, and transactions — achieved centralized management and unified standardization.

In 2025, Luzhou Bank and its partners initiated the construction of a distributed core system platform, building a next-generation core foundation based on the native distributed architecture of GBase 8c. The system is now in trial operation and will deliver higher concurrency, stronger scalability, and more stable operation for core business.

Lessons Learned: Collaborative Breakthroughs for Win-Win Results

From the homegrown replacement of the core transaction system to data empowerment through the data lakehouse platform, and to the distributed architecture overhaul for credit and e-banking, GBase and Luzhou Bank have deepened cooperation across multiple systems and products. Luzhou Bank drives technology adoption with real-world financial scenarios; GBase provides full-process technical assurance with mature database products and a senior technical team. Both parties are deeply integrated and collaboratively tackle challenges, solving architecture-level problems at the source rather than performing simple replacement projects.
