Hunan Unicom Big Data Platform Project——High Cost-Effectiveness, High Integration, Unified Management
Project Background
Hunan Unicom has built a big data platform to open its services and offer data integration to both internal and external developers. Using the platform’s analytics capabilities, it extracts insights from vast server data that are relevant to industries and businesses. This enables end-to-end integration, analysis, and delivery of user data across Hunan Unicom’s entire network. Under strict data security and confidentiality conditions, the platform provides data analytics services to sectors such as public security, transportation, tourism, and government—turning data into measurable value.
Requirements Analysis
The open platform, built upon the data storage center and data computing center, delivers data services to both internal and external applications through a centralized access layer. Centralized access means all applications—internal or external—must register, publish, and operate via this unified channel, ensuring consistent governance. Data services expose China Unicom Hunan's internal data for consumption by authorized applications through multiple channels, including files, APIs, and SQL.
Solutions
The data open platform database cluster is built with GBase 8a MPP Cluster. The system architecture is shown below. DMZ layer: The external reverse proxy server is deployed in the demilitarized zone of the external firewall, enabling external users to access it over the internet. Six application servers are deployed inside the firewall, within the secure zone, and can only be accessed unidirectionally from the reverse proxy server, preventing security issues such as unauthorized intrusions. GBase 8a MPP Cluster handles the integration, analysis, and output of all business data.
