China Re Group Climate Change Physical Risk (Flood) Stress Testing Project

Project Overview

This project involved building a climate change physical risk (flood) stress testing system for China Re Group. It procured two GBase 8s V8.8 databases from GBASE as the project's foundational software, hosting the massive data storage, computation, and query workloads associated with flood risk stress testing, and supporting climate risk data modeling and stress simulation for flood scenarios.

Solution

The project deployed two GBase 8s databases to build a data cluster supporting flood risk stress testing workloads, delivering:

  • Flexible, customizable data distribution: Supports HASH and RANDOM distribution strategies with on-demand sharding, adapting to multi-source meteorological and geographic test data while avoiding data skew.

  • Multi-replica data high availability: Supports 1–2 customizable replicas with automatic fault detection and self-healing. Replica failures do not affect business operations and require no manual intervention.

  • Primary-standby cluster disaster recovery: Supports primary-standby high availability, full/incremental synchronization, synchronous rollback, and error recovery, along with same-city disaster recovery — safeguarding test data security.

Results

  • Fully domestic software and hardware environment meets China Re Group's business processing and data security requirements.

  • High performance, high concurrency, high security, and high availability with elastic scaling — adapting to multi-source flood test data, improving resource utilization, accelerating model iteration, ensuring stable cluster operation, and supporting continuous execution of flood stress testing workloads.
