Hubei Mobile Signaling Monitoring System – Building a Unified Monitoring and Analysis Platform
Value Delivered
l Unified network-wide signaling monitoring and processing: Effectively supports real-time correlation processing for major events, enabling end-to-end fault localization and service analysis across the entire network;
l Supports massive data volumes with dynamic scalability: Eliminates system processing bottlenecks, addressing performance risks caused by hundredfold growth in network-wide data traffic;
l Low investment, high efficiency: Based on low-cost x86 PC servers, it reduces investment costs while delivering an order of magnitude higher processing capability than competitors;
l High availability: A backup strategy based on security groups ensures continuous service availability even in the event of node failures.
Solutions
The data sharing layer of Hubei Mobile's Signaling Monitoring Platform uses GBase 8a MPP Cluster to build the system storage module, storing and processing various signaling data aggregated by the front-end acquisition gateways. GBase 8a MPP Cluster, based on a modern Shared Nothing + MPP cluster architecture, performs comprehensive and in-depth analysis of network signaling, providing ingestion, querying, and management of statistical values and report data. GBase 8a MPP Cluster features an online dynamic scale-out mechanism to meet the ever-growing demand for signaling data processing.
The entire network adopts a dual-network and dual-plane architecture to ensure high availability with no single point of failure. The GBase 8a MPP Cluster consists of 10 servers: 2 loading machines and 8 nodes. Each cluster node functions as both a compute node and a management node, eliminating the need for a dedicated master node. The current data volume is 25 TB. Each node has two 10GbE NICs, connected to two 10GbE switches respectively, and the two NICs on each node are bonded for high availability.
Requirements Analysis
As Hubei Mobile’s business grows increasingly complex and its signaling data volume continues to expand, it needs to build a signaling monitoring system on an application architecture designed for OLAP analysis, enabling online dynamic scaling, handling massive data processing demands, and rapidly performing complex analytics on large-scale data.
Project Background
The signaling network of China Mobile Hubei is a critical support sub-network for the telecommunications infrastructure—its stability directly impacts the overall communication quality of the entire network. By performing in-depth signaling analysis and real-time monitoring across protocol, network, and service layers, it delivers effective support for centralized telecom service maintenance and management, network optimization, service quality monitoring and analysis, business model analysis, network planning, and rapid fault location and resolution. To further strengthen these capabilities, China Mobile Hubei proposed building a unified signaling monitoring and analysis platform that monitors signaling anomalies in real time, performs deep analysis to extract actionable insights, and provides robust support for existing live-network services, significantly enhancing network management, operational support, and overall service quality.
