GBase 8a Cluster Training for Shandong Mobile Successfully Concluded

In early June 2021, at the customer's request, General Data Technology (GBase) dispatched experienced GBase instructors to the training center of China Mobile Group Shandong Co., Ltd. to deliver two customized six-day sessions on GBase 8a MPP Cluster development for developers from across Shandong Province.

Since 2012, Shandong Mobile has been replacing DB2 with domestic databases in its business analysis system and big data analytics platform. Through phased construction, upgrades, and capacity expansion, the company built a big data platform and established an active-active disaster recovery cluster across IDCs. Underpinned by GBase 8a MPP Cluster, it now has over 200 nodes deployed across multiple cluster environments.

To accelerate the migration of custom applications to GBase 8a MPP, Shandong Mobile organized over 90 business developers from its branches to attend the training. The company also arranged a dedicated training lab and set up two sets of GBase 8a cluster test environments for hands-on practice.

After thoroughly understanding the training requirements, GBase instructors drew on previous training experience and existing courses to develop a customized curriculum tailored to the customer's development needs. The course focused primarily on GBase 8a product development, supplemented by system administration, covering key topics such as product architecture, features, common data development techniques, and SQL optimization.

Throughout the training, participants were highly satisfied with the course content and organization. They studied diligently and with great enthusiasm. After the training, all participants passed the exam with high scores, saying they had gained a great deal and were very satisfied with the training outcomes.

This training deepened the understanding of GBase 8a among staff from Shandong Mobile's provincial and municipal branches, enhanced their application development skills with GBase databases, and laid a solid foundation for better usage and maintenance in the future.
