GBASE Ranked Among the "Top 40 IT Application Innovation Enterprises"

Published on 2021-11-09

Recently, the central media outlet Economic Information Daily, focusing on the information technology application innovation (ITAI) sector, released the "Jingcan 40 Years · 40 ITAI Enterprises" list. GBASE, as a leading Chinese database provider, secured its place on this prestigious list thanks to the outstanding performance of its GBase series database products in the ITAI domain.

Founded in 1981 and supervised by Xinhua News Agency, the Economic Information Daily is one of China's earliest national economic newspapers, with its masthead inscribed by Comrade Deng Xiaoping. It is also one of the seven statutory information disclosure media designated by the China Securities Regulatory Commission. As an authoritative media outlet, the Economic Information Daily focuses on forward-looking, exploratory, and supervisory reporting, emphasizing in-depth, opinion, and international coverage. The Top 40 ITAI Enterprises list is an industry benchmark released by the Economic Information Daily, serving as solid evidence of how leading enterprises align with the nation's top-level strategies while upholding tradition and innovation.

Policy tailwinds drive the ITAI industry into a golden era

Chinese President Xi Jinping has repeatedly stressed the need to "vigorously enhance indigenous innovation capabilities and achieve breakthroughs in core technologies as a matter of overall national development." It was against this backdrop that the information technology application innovation (ITAI) initiative was launched. According to the China ITAI Development White Paper (2021), the ITAI industry will be widely promoted across key sectors over the next three years, ushering in a golden period of growth, with the market size expected to exceed one trillion RMB by 2023.

The goal of the ITAI initiative is to achieve security and self-reliance in critical links of the industry chain, including basic hardware, basic software, application software, and information security. As a core component of IT infrastructure, the domestic database is a vital part of the new infrastructure and the ITAI ecosystem, often referred to together with chips and operating systems as the crown jewels of the IT industry.

GBASE plays a key role

Since its inception, GBASE has consistently pursued independent innovation, ensuring that the core technologies and underlying code of its products are fully self-controlled. Rooted in the realities of the Chinese market and genuinely aligned with customer needs, GBASE's core database products—the distributed analytical data management system GBase 8a, the transaction-oriented data management system GBase 8s, and the distributed transaction-oriented data management system GBase 8c—have all passed compatibility and adaptation certifications with major domestic hardware and software vendors. Test results show excellent compatibility, stable overall operation, and full functionality, meeting user requirements for product compatibility. Today, the GBase database family is deployed in critical information infrastructure across a wide range of key industries and sectors, including finance, telecommunications, government, energy, transportation, and healthcare.

Big Data Platform Project at the Agricultural Bank of China Headquarters: Deploying the distributed analytical database GBase 8a, this project won the first prize of the 2017 Banking Technology Development Award from the People's Bank of China. The system now has over 2,000 nodes, manages more than 20PB of data, and has been running steadily for over 2,000 days.

Core System of a Regional Commercial Bank: Using the transactional database GBase 8s, system backup time was reduced from over two hours to under 20 minutes. The project resolved issues with table recovery unavailability and the inability to insert data into large tables. It enabled separated data storage where large table data is sharded across different spaces to improve performance, and optimized configuration parameters such as table lock granularity and indexes to enhance concurrency.

Sinopec Intelligent Oil & Gas Field Big Data Platform: Leveraging both the distributed analytical database GBase 8a and the transactional database GBase 8s, this platform provides parallel processing capabilities for massive and complex datasets, creating a single view of PB-level operational data. It delivers timely, efficient analytical results, having loaded and managed over 600TB of business data and returning sub-second responses for ad-hoc queries on massive datasets. The platform replaces foreign and open-source data storage and computing platforms, strengthening energy security protection. It achieves unified management and access for six types of business data across three major categories, supporting data lineage management, traceability, and external unified services.

China Meteorological Administration Radar Data Sharing System: Utilizing the distributed analytical database GBase 8a, this system enables unified management and service of the complete national meteorological dataset. Through a distributed deployment nationwide with centralized management, it manages the full set of meteorological data and provides a platform computing service for product processing, mining, and analysis beyond numerical weather prediction. It has effectively advanced the sharing of national and provincial weather radar data and the informatization and consolidation of meteorological operations.

China Mobile Headquarters Centralized Business Sub-system: With the distributed analytical database GBase 8a, self-service reporting and multidimensional analysis queries achieve sub-second response times; the cluster supports dynamic scaling with linear performance gains as nodes are added; it offers cost-effectiveness and high performance; the use of domestic products aligns with the trend of moving away from IOE; and its distributed computing and storage architecture, combined with a Hadoop + MPP + primary data warehouse hybrid structure, effectively supports massive data workloads.

2021 marks the first year of the 14th Five-Year Plan and a golden period for the ITAI industry. GBASE will give full play to its role as a leading database provider, adhere to innovation-driven development, accelerate the building of a digital society, and focus on breakthroughs and innovations in core database technologies as China's ITAI industry continues to grow. By rallying upstream and downstream industry chain partners, GBASE is steadily forging ahead towards its goal of becoming the most trusted database product and service provider for its users!
