On March 19, 2023, GBASE warmly welcomed a group of students from Tianjin University participating in the "Phoenix Roosting in Tianjin" enterprise visit series. Representatives from the School of Intelligence and Computing, Tianjin University, toured GBASE and engaged in in-depth discussions on the development of Chinese databases and career planning.
"Phoenix Roosting in Tianjin"
To deeply study and implement the guiding principles of the 20th CPC National Congress and accelerate Tianjin's "Ten Key Actions," and to attract more graduates to stay in Tianjin to develop their careers and start businesses, the Career Center of Tianjin University, together with the School of Intelligence and Computing, organized the weekend career bus "Phoenix Roosting in Tianjin" enterprise visit series based on professional characteristics and actual circumstances. This initiative gives students the opportunity to visit renowned Tianjin enterprises up close, aiming to enhance their career planning abilities, help them gain firsthand understanding of corporate culture, recruitment needs, and industry trends, and broaden their horizons and awareness of potential employers.
Upon arrival, HR Manager Xu Hong gave a comprehensive introduction to GBASE, covering the company's positioning, business ecosystem, and key achievements.
Since 2013, GBASE has been consistently rated as a leading Chinese database provider by CCID Consulting. IDC took notice of GBASE as early as 2014, and it remains the only Chinese database vendor to maintain a Top 10 ranking in the Asia-Pacific market in IDC reports. Currently, GBase serves users in 34 countries and 32 provincial-level administrative regions in China, with over 30,000 deployed nodes and more than 300 PB of total data. It is widely used in critical sectors such as banking (Agricultural Bank of China), insurance (PICC Property and Casualty), telecommunications (China Mobile Group), power (State Grid Corporation of China), and government (General Administration of Customs). GBASE independently developed big data solutions for finance and telecommunications, supporting national big data strategies, and remains oriented toward national development and public welfare, committed to scientific research and innovation.
Afterward, R&D Director Li Chenguang and Product Director Sun Yunji from the Product Management Department gave students an accessible overview of the core GBase database family and its applications across different industries. Students also actively exchanged ideas based on current trends, their academic focuses, and personal strengths.
Furthermore, Wang Xindi, an outstanding product engineer from GBASE, and Yang Shouwang, a product engineer and alumnus of Tianjin University, shared their personal journeys, covering career choices, organizational structure, work environment, and job content, helping students dispel confusion and clarify their career direction.
Moving forward, GBASE will continue to strengthen university-industry collaboration, especially with Tianjin University, by innovating partnership models and expanding the talent pipeline, fostering synergy between research and industry, and driving continuous technological advancement in key fields.
Student Reflections
First of all, I am honored to have participated in this visit to GBASE. What impressed me most was the self-developed GBase database. Its development and application represent the progress and innovation of Chinese database technology, providing strong support for data management and data-driven development in China.
Guided by the host, we toured the workplace, listened to technical staff explain the GBase database, and enjoyed a sharing session by a senior colleague.
I benefited a great deal from this visit. The development and application of the GBase database fully demonstrate GBASE's technical strength and innovation capability in the database field, and also bring new ideas and competitiveness to the global database industry.
