GBase Empowers TEMPO Platform to Unlock Industry Value

On the afternoon of December 3, 2015, the TEMPO Platform, developed by CSIP (the Software and Integrated Circuit Promotion Center of MIIT), was officially launched in Beijing. Director Diao Shijing of the Electronic Information Department of MIIT, Inspector Li Ying of the Information and Software Services Department, Academician Ni Guangnan of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and other leaders and experts attended the launch event. General Data Technology Co., Ltd. (GBase) joined around 150 attendees from other prominent hardware and software vendors and system integrators.

At the launch, Academician Ni Guangnan remarked, “Against the backdrop of nationwide mass entrepreneurship and innovation, the TEMPO Platform makes full use of internet information technology so that everyone can participate in testing, experiencing, migrating, optimizing, and planning. This is commendable and highly meaningful for the entire industry ecosystem.”

During the conference, Cui Weili, Chairman of GBase, stated: “The TEMPO Platform represents an innovative practice combining IT services with the public service platform for the industry. It is an excellent exploration that holds great significance for the development of homegrown products. In recent years, GBase has invested tens of millions annually in product testing, application migration, adaptation, and optimization. If leveraged through the TEMPO Platform, it can save enterprises and users substantial labor, equipment, and opportunity costs. I hope CSIP will develop TEMPO into a standardized, professional, and credible platform. In the future, GBase will open up some core business use cases from high-end industries to promote the long-term development of the industry.”

The TEMPO Platform is positioned as a connector, and its goal is to effectively unlock industry value through an internet-based model. Taking homegrown databases as an example, groundbreaking progress has been made through independent R&D, introduced absorption and re-innovation models, with the potential to break the long-standing monopoly of foreign vendors. GBase’s transactional database GBase 8s has been deployed at scale over the past 10 years in government, finance, telecommunications, and other sectors. Its analytical database GBase 8a serves as the data warehousing backbone for finance, telecommunications, government, and military sectors, delivering outstanding performance in structured big data analytics. Today, homegrown databases are already capable of supporting the nation’s strategy for technological self-reliance, and have even been applied in some core and high-end systems. GBase’s dual-star products, GBase 8a and GBase 8t, deliver performance approaching that of mainstream foreign databases, while offering superior cost and service. Homegrown databases are no longer just usable—they are becoming great. The current IT ecosystem is dynamic and multidimensional. The rise of homegrown databases gives users an additional choice.

Currently, GBase has joined the TEMPO Platform. By continuously improving databases through real-world applications, the platform can drive synchronized optimization and adaptation of both software and hardware, thereby accelerating the development of the entire industry. In the self-reliant ecosystem of core components, China-developed servers, operating systems, and middleware have made relatively good progress; the greatest challenge lies with Chinese-made chips. In this regard, GBase has already partnered with Chinese chip manufacturers to produce database appliances. The excellent capabilities of GBase databases have effectively boosted the performance of Chinese chips, while database clustering technology effectively addresses server stability issues.
