To promote IT application innovation knowledge and nurture talent, in early June, the Innovation Application Committee of the Beijing FinTech Industry Alliance conducted a special training session on Transactional Database Fundamentals.

This training was delivered online by Feng Wenzhong, Technical Director of GBase's Ecosystem Development Department. Mr. Feng has over 20 years of experience in financial industry software development, including more than 10 years dedicated to IT application innovation projects. The training covered the history of database development, an overview of domestic transactional databases, and key considerations for database selection. It also incorporated real-world cases from domestic databases to share insights on database IT application innovation, aiming to deepen the understanding of databases among the participating member institutions.

The Importance of Independence, Security, and Reliability

It is recommended that enterprises plan their database selection systematically to avoid excessive "selection costs" and "trial-and-error costs."

It is advised to decouple applications from databases during system design, especially in distributed architectures, to prevent over-dependence of business operations on a specific database.

The training compared the implementation complexity of centralized and distributed databases, and provided design recommendations for distributed systems.

It stressed that the primary goal of database selection is to choose a product of proven quality; compatibility should only be a reference criterion, avoiding situations where excessive emphasis on compatibility overshadows product quality.
