China's Big Data Platform Drives National Meteorological Informatization: GBase Products Pass Preliminary Acceptance for Weather Radar Project

On the eve of the Chinese New Year, GBase's big data product GBase 8a successfully passed the preliminary acceptance for the weather radar data sharing platform project at the National Meteorological Information Center.


 

 

According to the special plan for weather radar development at the National Meteorological Information Center, an efficient distributed real-time and historical unified data storage and management system will be built at the national and provincial centers to meet the storage, access, and analysis of massive data with high timeliness requirements. The real-time data transmission system powered by GBase 8a MPP Cluster is an important component of the weather radar data sharing platform, which will effectively promote the sharing of weather radar data across provinces and advance the informatization and intensification of meteorological business applications.

 

The meteorological big data platform achieves unified management and service of the entire data set, providing platform computing services for processing and mining analysis of various meteorological data products beyond numerical weather prediction. It directly supports applications, drives the comprehensive development of the "cloud + terminal" business model, and forms a new meteorological ecosystem that is intensive, standardized, and open.


 

 

The GBase 8a MPP Cluster product serves as a historical analysis database, importing meteorological data such as surface, upper-air, and radar observations from transactional databases using efficient synchronization tools, providing storage of long-time-series historical data and multi-dimensional analytical computation. It also provides a unified database access interface, enabling transparent access to heterogeneous database engines, facilitating unified data management and application migration and development.

 

After the contract was signed, the GBase project team went to the site immediately to communicate with the customer, developed deployment and implementation plans for the national center, regional centers, and various provinces, which were highly recognized by the customer. Subsequently, the team carried out intensive work on environment preparation, installation and commissioning, and preliminary acceptance, and successfully passed the preliminary acceptance. Testing confirmed that cluster functionality, query performance, and data loading performance all met customer requirements, and the unified monitoring platform and Sky Mirror interface displayed data normally.

 

Currently, GBase has also provided a comprehensive after-sales service plan for the National Meteorological Center to ensure the continuous and stable operation of the system.
