GBase 8c Delivers Continuous Innovation and a Major Upgrade with Multi-Model, Multi-Form Support
To jointly advance the development of databases in the IT application innovation sector, GBASE (General Data Technology) has joined the openGauss community and released the GBase 8c multi-model, multi-form distributed transactional database product based on openGauss. It supports multiple storage modes and deployment forms, delivering high performance, high availability, elastic scalability, and strong security. Compatible with the IT application innovation ecosystem, it can be deployed on physical servers, virtual machines, containers, private clouds, and public clouds, providing secure, stable, and reliable data storage and management services for core systems in critical industries, internet business systems, and government and enterprise systems.
Challenge 1: Multi-Model – Multi-Model Storage for Diverse Application Scenarios
There is much debate in the database field about different storage models, with the focus on: which can process massive data more effectively while balancing high performance, high security, high reliability, and integrity. Row storage, columnar storage, and in-memory storage each have their own pros and cons. Can they adapt flexibly to different business scenarios?
Multi-model means that GBase 8c supports row-based, columnar, and in-memory storage modes to meet the needs of different scenarios.
Row storage mode: Primarily designed for OLTP scenarios such as order processing, shipping, and banking transaction systems.
Columnar storage mode: Primarily designed for OLAP scenarios such as data statistics and report analysis systems.
In-memory storage mode: Primarily designed for extreme performance scenarios such as bank risk control.
Challenge 2: Multi-Form – Multiple Deployment Forms Build Differentiated Competitiveness
Meanwhile, GBase 8c supports three deployment forms: standalone, primary-standby, and distributed, all manageable through a unified O&M platform. These address core enterprise business and massive-scale scenarios, delivering differentiated competitiveness.
Standalone form: GBase 8c can be deployed on a single server, offering the lowest cost and the simplest deployment.
Primary-standby form: GBase 8c supports one primary and multiple standby deployment with synchronous or asynchronous backup options. This form is simple to deploy and deliver, ideal for scenarios with relatively low data volumes that demand maximum standalone performance and data backup.
Distributed form: Provides high availability with full component redundancy and supports the separation of compute and storage. Both compute and storage can be scaled out independently based on business needs, making it suitable for large-scale data, high concurrency, and high data security scenarios.
