An 'Extracurricular Academy' for College Students
By Liu Boyu
I am Liu Boyu, from Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province. I am a junior in the College of Artificial Intelligence at Tianjin University of Science & Technology, and I serve as the class monitor and Youth League branch secretary of Software Engineering Class 3. Before this, I had no knowledge of GBase databases.
Thanks to a summer joint training program between my university and General Data Technology Co., Ltd., I had the opportunity to participate in the GBase 8s training course held by GBase in July 2022, where I served as the team leader for our major's group. Throughout the training, I gained a great deal. Before this, my understanding of databases was limited; I had only mastered some basic relevant knowledge.
Here, through the instructors' explanations, I developed a thorough understanding of GBase 8s. GBase 8s is compatible with SQL-92/99 standards and supports standard interfaces such as ODBC and JDBC, which gave me a strong sense of familiarity—it was not entirely new to me. Moreover, it employs an advanced multi-process, multi-threaded DSA (Dynamic Scalable Architecture) that fully leverages system resources. GBase 8s has passed relevant tests and earned certifications for the highest security level—China's Multi-Level Protection Scheme (MLPS) Level 4, BM ZYJ, commercial cryptography, and State Grid security standards. It provides security features such as data confidentiality, access control, attack resistance, and user behavior tracking. It supports encryption and decryption throughout the entire communication and data access process, including software encryption and cryptographic card encryption, and supports separation of duties (three-role separation). GBase 8s also features a multi-process, multi-threaded, shared-memory architecture with a high-performance transaction engine. It supports dynamic resource allocation, scheduling resources based on system workload. It offers outstanding adaptability to virtualized and cloud environments, meeting users' elastic demands.
In this training, we studied recorded videos online. On average, just one hour per day was enough to complete the coursework, after which I would practice on my own. There was also one rest day per week. If we encountered any problems during our learning, we could ask questions in the communication group at any time. The instructors were always very patient and detailed in their explanations. Before simulations and assessments, the teachers would remind us about every detail, showing great responsibility toward the students.
Thank you to GBase for providing this learning opportunity, and thank you to the instructors for their dedicated teaching. I look forward to more in-depth training in the future.
Wishing your company continued prosperity and growth with each passing day!
