More than GBase 8a – Reflections on GBase 8a Training
By Zhao Yafei, Department Manager, Beijing Lingshu Technology Co., Ltd.
As a database professional, I sometimes feel overwhelmed at work and am always eager to deepen my database knowledge through various learning channels to improve my skills and efficiency. I also want to understand the current state of China's homegrown database industry, learn the technical characteristics of Chinese databases, and broaden my knowledge of related products and technologies.
That's why, on a colleague's recommendation, I enrolled in GBase's October 8a training and took a systematic deep dive into the GBase database. In this training, I came into contact with and systematically studied GBase database knowledge for the first time, and I was deeply impressed by its powerful capabilities. GBase 8a is China's first next-generation columnar database designed for high-speed analytics on massive data.
The GBase database features unique columnar storage, transparent adaptive compression, smart indexing, two-way parallelism, high-speed data loading, automatic memory management, and semantic optimization technology, offering a combination of high performance, high cost-effectiveness, and high availability. At the same time, like Oracle and MySQL, GBase adheres to SQL programming standards, making it fairly easy for those of us accustomed to Oracle or MySQL to switch and get started.
In my opinion, the growth of China's homegrown databases depends heavily on a strong training ecosystem and solid documentation. General Data Technology (GBase) has done an excellent job in this regard. The GBase training program includes not only a series of video courses but also regular quizzes and homework exercises to help us consolidate what we've learned.
All in all, this training was a rewarding experience. It deepened my understanding of China's homegrown databases and enhanced my own capabilities. I am very grateful to General Data Technology (GBase) for providing this free training opportunity, and I wish your company continued growth and success in the future.
