From October 26 to 28, the 20th China National Computer Congress (CNCC2023), themed 'Developing Digital Infrastructure to Support the Building of a Digital China', was held at the Shenyang New World Expo. Hosted by the China Computer Federation (CCF), the congress brought together over 800 distinguished guests, including internationally renowned scholars, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and representatives from academia, industry, and research. It showcased a convergence of cutting-edge technologies, advanced concepts, and inspiring ideas, attracting more than 13,000 on-site attendees — marking the first in-person event of such scale in CNCC history and a true feast of computing technology.

Jointly Submitted Project Wins the Second Prize in Science and Technology Progress

The awards ceremony of CNCC2023 was held on the evening of October 27, presenting major honors including the CCF Science and Technology Achievement Awards.

The project 'Key Technologies and Systems for Distributed Knowledge Graph Data Management', jointly submitted by Tianjin University, Renmin University of China, and GBase, won the 2023 CCF Science and Technology Achievement Award — Second Prize in Science and Technology Progress.

Targeting this important area of database management systems, the project made breakthroughs in key technologies such as unified modeling and distributed management of knowledge graph data. The developed system supports efficient management of knowledge graphs with over 300 million vertices and 1 billion edges. The results have been applied to the domestically developed database GBase UP, achieving large-scale market deployment in key sectors such as finance and government, and generating significant economic and social benefits.

Independent and Controllable Databases Ensure Secure Data Circulation

In recent years, as digital transformation deepens and the cloud computing and big data industries accelerate, data security has become a critical domain within cyberspace security. Cryptography, as a core technical pillar for safeguarding data security, plays a vital role in understanding the root causes of data security issues and seeking solutions.

At the technical forum 'How Can Commercial Cryptography Safeguard the Digital China Strategy?', GBase Senior Vice President Zhao Wei delivered a keynote speech titled 'Ensuring Secure Circulation of Data Elements with Self-Controllable Commercial Cryptography Technologies to Support the Building of a Digital China', sharing innovative practices of domestically developed databases in leveraging commercial cryptography to secure data element circulation and propel the construction of Digital China.

Zhao Wei stated: In the era of the digital economy, data elements possess the dual attributes of resource and asset, making them the core resource of the digital economy. Commercial cryptography technologies, as important measures for protecting the security of data elements, can effectively, economically, and reliably safeguard digital critical capabilities. Ensuring data element security involves three layers: infrastructure supply chain security, data asset attribute security, and data resource attribute security — all of which involve the application of commercial cryptography.

Only by establishing an independent and controllable domestic basic software and hardware system and developing commercial cryptography technologies upon a trustworthy information system architecture can the security of data elements be ensured. To this end, we need to use self-controllable commercial cryptography foundational hardware and software, such as cryptographic cards and secure authentication gateways, to safeguard supply chain security; employ commercial cryptography techniques such as encryption, access control, and secure transmission protocols to protect data asset attribute security; leverage commercial cryptography-related technologies such as blockchain and multi-party computation to secure data resource attribute security; and thereby build an integrated, trustworthy defense line for data element security.

Looking ahead, GBase will continue to focus on independent R&D and innovation in core database technologies. Leveraging the broad platform of CCF and CNCC, we will join hands with experts and peers from industry and academia to build a new independent and controllable information technology ecosystem, contributing to the promotion of IT application innovation and the construction of Digital China!
