Driving Transportation Backbone Localization: GBASE Invited to Highway System Seminar

Published on 2023-11-09

Recently, the “2023 Key Technology Seminar on Localization Transformation of Expressway Toll Systems and the Shaanxi Xizhen Expressway On-site Meeting” hosted by China Highway & Transportation Society was successfully held in Xi’an. GBASE was invited to attend this meeting and, as a representative domestic database company, shared its application practices for the localization transformation of expressway toll systems.

Since the nationwide expressway network began operating as “one network,” the networked toll collection system has been gradually optimized and upgraded. However, how to build an independent and controllable, safe and trustworthy expressway toll system, ensure the normal operation of expressways, and safeguard national security and social stability remains an important issue to be studied and discussed. At this meeting, approximately 400 expressway IT management and technical personnel from across the country gathered in the ancient city of Xi’an to jointly discuss the key technologies and related applications of the localization transformation of toll systems and exchange practical experiences.

Transportation is an important livelihood sector and one of the eight key critical information infrastructure industries, serving as a foundational, pioneering, strategic, and service-oriented industry as well as a technology-driven and data-intensive industry. Zhao Jie, General Manager of GBASE’s Energy and Transportation Department, delivered a keynote speech titled “GBASE Empowers the Localization Construction of Transportation Systems” at the meeting. Zhao Jie stated that in the process of localizing information systems in the transportation sector, safety and controllability are top priorities. GBASE, having deeply cultivated database R&D and services for 20 years, is now a leading domestic database company. Its independently developed GBase series databases have not only achieved large-scale application in finance, telecommunications, and other industries but also have rich experience in the transportation sector, having been deployed on highways, railways, civil aviation, and more than 50 subway lines in over 20 cities.

As a vital part of transportation, expressways rely on toll systems as the core of all expressway core operations, making it a top priority to ensure the independence, controllability, safety, and trustworthiness of expressway toll systems. The shared-storage database cluster GBase 8s, multi-modal distributed database GBase 8c, and distributed logical data warehouse GBase 8a all feature high performance, high availability, and high security, effectively meeting scenarios such as traditional transaction processing, high concurrency, high availability, HTAP mixed workloads, and precise and efficient risk control, thereby supporting the localization construction of expressway toll systems.

Under the new situation of accelerating the construction of a country with strong transportation network, the development of smart highways continues to advance, and the localization transformation of expressway toll systems deepens continuously. In the future, GBASE will accelerate the independent and controllable construction of core technologies, promote the integrated development of IT application innovation and digital transformation in the transportation sector, and empower the high-quality development of the transportation industry with mature and stable database products and solutions.
