Advancing Open Source Compliance Together: GBase Joins the Open Source Innovation and Compliance Development Joint Lab

Recently, GBase officially joined the Open Source Innovation and Compliance Development Joint Lab (OSIC Lab) as a co-founding member. Leveraging the lab's open platform, GBase will apply its hands-on enterprise expertise to drive open source technology and model innovation, standardize compliance development, and promote the healthy growth of open source compliance governance.

The Open Source Innovation and Compliance Development Joint Lab (OSIC Lab) was initiated by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT). Its mission is to drive the integration of technological innovation and industrial compliance, providing critical support for national information security development. The lab brings together top-tier technology companies and research institutions to jointly explore paths for open source innovation and compliance, promoting the sustainable development of digital innovation.

China's 14th Five-Year Plan and the Long-Range Objectives Through the Year 2035 explicitly call for supporting the development of innovation consortia such as open source communities for digital technologies. This includes supporting the growth of open source communities, platforms, and projects, promoting the co-construction and sharing of innovation resources, and facilitating the open evolution of innovation models.

Open source software is profoundly significant to the digital economy, and the open source model has deeply integrated into every facet of modern society. Globally, 97% of software developers and 99% of enterprises use open source software. Foundational software, industrial software, and emerging platform software are mostly built on open source, which has become the source of innovation and the "standard component library" for the software industry. However, due to the inherent characteristics of using open source software, such as self-assumed liabilities and risks, litigation cases surrounding it occur from time to time, exposing enterprises to potential legal, security, and compliance implications, making open source compliance a critical issue.

It is against this backdrop that OSIC Lab was established. The joint lab aims to unite enterprises, projects, and the wider community to foster the healthy development of open source compliance governance, advance the integration of technological innovation and industrial compliance, and serve as a platform supporting national information security development.

As one of the earliest foundational software companies to drive the development of China's IT Application Innovation industry, GBase has always insisted on the independent research and development of core technologies and products. Deeply understanding that open source is a vital driving force for the IT industry, GBase actively promotes the construction of the open source ecosystem and explores cutting-edge technologies. It has joined key open source root communities such as openGauss and OpenAnolis, and is one of China's first database product and service providers to pass the OpenChain specification.
