Empowering High-Quality Digital Transformation for Government and Enterprises | GBase Wins 2023 IT Application Innovation Annual Recommendation

Published on 2024-01-15

On January 14, 2024, the “Third Forum on IT Application Innovation Development,” hosted by Huaxin Research Institute of Publishing House of Electronics Industry, organized by China Informatization Magazine and Beijing Smart Cloud IoT Information Technology Center, co-organized by GBase, and supported by China Information Director Platform, concluded successfully in Beijing. More than 20 leaders and experts from informatization and digitalization departments of central state organs and centrally managed enterprises attended the forum.GBase showcased its full-stack database products and solutions at the event and held in-depth exchanges with attending leaders and experts. Meanwhile, the case “GBase 8s Facilitates the Localization of Rail Transit Systems” was awarded the 2023 IT Application Innovation · Annual Recommended Innovation Product & Solution.

The forum was moderated by Xiong Wei, Vice President of Huaxin Research Institute of Publishing House of Electronics Industry and Executive President of China Informatization Magazine. Liu Jiuru, member of the National Intelligent Manufacturing Expert Committee and Deputy Head of the Industrial Policy Group of the Electronic Science and Technology Committee of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, delivered an opening speech titled “Digital Technology Empowers New Industrialization.” Wang Lianyi, former Secretary of the Communist Party Committee and Deputy Director of the China Cybersecurity Review Technology and Certification Center, gave a keynote speech on “Cybersecurity Challenges and Responses in the Context of IT Application Innovation.” Zhao Wei, Senior Vice President of GBase Data Technology Co., Ltd., delivered a keynote speech titled “Experiences in the Development of Domestic Databases in the Era of IT Application Innovation.”

Zhao Wei stated that the dual drivers of domestic substitution policies and technological innovation needs are the root causes of the vigorous development of domestic databases. Proving their usability is the foundation of this development. He further elaborated on the development history of domestic databases, key dimensions for proper product selection, trade-offs between centralized and distributed architectures, and the challenges of moving databases to the cloud—all topics of debate in the industry. Taking GBase's development as a starting point and analyzing its growth path, he illustrated how domestic database vendors seized the wave of IT application innovation, gradually mastered core technologies through independent innovation, and achieved large-scale application across various sectors through sustained effort.

Zhao Wei pointed out that domestic substitution demand is the primary driving force for the development of China's databases, while technological innovation provides additional momentum. Overall, domestic databases have made substantial progress in absolute performance, ecosystem and syntax compatibility, engineer training and vendor services, architectural diversity, and cloud deployment capabilities, fully proving their “usability.” Specifically, GBase delivers a full technology stack of domestic database products and solutions through independent innovation, with mature database products for both transactional and analytical domestic substitution scenarios, fully validated through years of application. In terms of technological innovation, GBase has successively released the multi-model, multi-state distributed database GBase 8c, the cloud-native data warehouse GBase GCDW, and the vector database GBase Cloud Vector DB, staying abreast of technology trends and empowering domestic substitution across multiple industries with innovative practices.

After multiple rounds of selection and evaluation, the results of the “2023 IT Application Innovation Annual Recommendation” were grandly announced at the forum.“GBase 8s Facilitates the Localization of Rail Transit Systems” received high recognition from the judges and the industry, and was awarded the 2023 IT Application Innovation · Annual Recommended Innovation Product & Solution.

In the rail transit sector, GBase databases have been deployed on core business systems such as integrated supervision and automatic fare collection for more than 50 metro lines in over 20 cities, including Beijing, Shenzhen, and Hangzhou, ensuring smooth passenger flow, empowering smart urban rail, and supporting daily commuting.
