DTC2024 | GBase's Third-Generation Intelligent Distributed Database Delivers Homegrown Core Competitiveness

Published on 2024-04-15

April 12-13, 2024, hosted by the Mo Tianlun Data Community (Modb) and the China Database Union (ACDU), the 13th Data Technology Carnival (DTC 2024) was held in Beijing. As a leading Chinese database provider, GBase (General Data Technology) has showcased its database products and solutions at the event for several consecutive years. This year, GBase presented the latest achievements of its distributed database technology to attendees — the core features, key technologies, and best practices of its third-generation intelligent distributed database, GBase 8c.

Themed “Intelligence · Cloud-Native · All-in-One — DB and AI Collaborative Innovation, Model and Architecture Integrated Development”, the two-day DTC 2024 featured “1+12” keynote sessions delivered by more than 80 distinguished technology leaders, academic experts, industry practitioners, and ecosystem evangelists, attracting over 1,000 technical experts and visionaries from China's database community.

Today, the deep integration of artificial intelligence and databases is profoundly reshaping the database industry landscape and redefining the digital future with innovative intelligence. How to fully leverage cloud platforms to enhance elasticity, scalability, and distributed capabilities, while integrating data analytics and transaction processing, has become a key focus of exploration for the database industry.

For two decades, GBase has focused on Chinese database software, continuously enhancing its independent innovation capabilities. Aligned with technology trends such as “Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and All-in-One”, it has built a GBase database product portfolio covering the full data management lifecycle, delivering high-performance, cost-effective, and easily deployable scenario-based solutions.

Third-Generation Intelligent Distributed Database Builds Homegrown Core Competitiveness

During the conference, Li Kai, Director of the GBase 8c Product Department at General Data Technology, delivered a keynote titled “Evolving Rapidly, Standing Out – The Third-Generation Distributed Database GBase 8c” at the “Database All-in-One” forum.

In his speech, Li Kai reviewed GBase's understanding of the evolution of distributed databases over its 20-year history: from the first generation of sharding/distributed middleware architecture to the second generation of native distributed databases, and now to the latest third-generation intelligent distributed database — GBase 8c. He also provided a detailed interpretation of GBase 8c's core features.

Li Kai highlighted GBase 8c's technical practices in “Intelligence, Cloud Computing, and All-in-One,” echoing the theme of the conference. By embedding AI capabilities into the database product, GBase 8c significantly improves user experience in terms of intelligent optimization, intelligent operations, and intelligent security. Moreover, GBase 8c's native integration of centralized and distributed architectures, as well as transaction processing and online analytical processing (HTAP), can markedly reduce total cost of ownership.

In addition, GBase showcased its GBase database products at the exhibition booth, including distributed logical data warehouse, shared-storage database cluster, third-generation intelligent distributed database, cloud-native data warehouse, and others, attracting many attendees to stop and inquire. Together they explored the product features and deployment across key sectors. The company's product system and service capabilities covering the full data management lifecycle and the entire technology stack received unanimous recognition from the attendees.

Currently, GBase database has been widely deployed in commercial use across key sectors such as finance, telecommunications, government, energy, and transportation, with over 96,000 nodes deployed and managing more than 500PB of data. Looking ahead, GBase will continue to focus on core database R&D, bring together more forces within the database industry, and build a mature, stable, and trustworthy intelligent data foundation for enterprise core business. It aims to empower IT application innovation and boost the quality and efficiency of enterprise digital transformation.
