Recently, the 2024 Daoxiang Lake Spring Forum, jointly hosted by the Beijing Health Information Technology Association, General Data Technology Co., Ltd. (GBase), and Weaver Network Technology Co., Ltd., was held at the Tibet Hotel in Beijing. More than twenty IT experts and enterprise representatives from Beijing's healthcare sector discussed key topics including the construction and implementation of healthcare IT Application Innovation, addressing challenges and key points. The meeting was chaired by Shen Tao, President of the Beijing Health Information Technology Association.
Zheng Yu, Technical Director of General Data Technology (GBase), delivered a keynote titled "Riding the Wave at the Right Time: GBase Empowers Healthcare and Strengthens the IT Application Innovation Foundation".
Zheng Yu stated: As the demand for healthcare IT application innovation becomes increasingly clear, the goal is to replace legacy systems with domestic alternatives across smart healthcare, smart services, smart management, and smart research. In terms of big data, medical data already exhibits massive scale, diverse types, high value, low value density, rapid generation, and fast processing. Building a data lakehouse foundation platform based on GBase databases enables deep mining of medical data value. For instance, in operations management, it helps healthcare institutions gain deeper insights into their current operational status and optimize existing processes. In pharmaceutical R&D and clinical care, big data analysis and aggregation can provide more diagnostic samples.
She analyzed that database IT application innovation involves hundreds of business systems across the hospital, requiring comprehensive consideration of technology, management, and operations, with stability and security as top priorities. During application migration, it is necessary to analyze the data volume, workload, and migration objectives of each application scenario, compare the functions and features of current databases and those for IT application innovation, and estimate potential issues that may arise during migration.

Cao Zhanqiang, Director of the Information Center at Peking University Hospital of Stomatology, delivered an introductory speech on the key concerns and challenges of IT application innovation transformation in hospitals.
Cao Zhanqiang noted that healthcare IT application innovation started relatively late, and the sector lacks tailored technologies and products for the healthcare industry. Both hospitals and IT vendors are still in the exploratory stage, and basic software and hardware providers for IT application innovation have not yet formed a mature application ecosystem in healthcare. The construction of IT application innovation requires more technical support and assistance. For medical institutions, it is a good approach to choose reliable and mature technology paths, start with systems that have a large service scope but relatively low business criticality, and select systems or solutions with good compatibility with existing office facilities.
Inspired by the insightful presentations, the attending experts actively shared their practical experiences and engaged in in-depth discussions on healthcare IT application innovation construction, ecosystem building along the value chain, and creating benchmark cases. They reached a consensus: healthcare IT application innovation requires joint efforts from health administrative departments, medical institutions at all levels, smart healthcare companies, and IT application innovation enterprises. Through continuous adjustment and experience accumulation during planning and construction, the systematic goal of IT application innovation transformation will be achieved.
