Roundtable Forum
Exploring the Future of Domestic Databases
With the continuous promotion of the national IT application innovation strategy and the arrival of the digital economy era, homegrown databases are seeing unprecedented development opportunities as well as facing numerous challenges.
During the roundtable discussion, Zhang Yi, General Manager of the GBase 8c Product Department at GBase, together with experts from financial user organizations and database industry peers, explored the current state, challenges, and future trends of homegrown databases, offering ideas and suggestions for the homegrown transformation of related enterprises and research institutions.
Zhang Yi stated: Domestic databases have developed rapidly in recent years. In terms of technology architecture, while centralized databases flourish, distributed databases have also made significant progress. Leveraging advantages in scalability and high availability, they have been successfully deployed in core systems of key industries such as finance and telecommunications. In terms of performance, domestic databases can optimize through hardware-software co-optimization—for example, under the NUMA architecture of mainstream domestic chips, collaborative tuning can be performed, and optimizations can be made for domestic chip instruction sets. In addition, the parallel processing capabilities of distributed databases can also boost database processing performance. In the future, AI4DB, DB4AI, large models, and vector storage will become key focuses of domestic databases.
