"Data" Embracing the Galaxy: GBASE Selected for Big Data "Galaxy" Case for Three Consecutive Years

Published on 2024-12-17

Recently, the results of the 8th Big Data "Galaxy" Case Selection, jointly organized by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) and the Big Data Technology and Standards Promotion Committee of China Communications Standards Association (CCSA TC601), were officially announced.GBASE, as a supporting organization, jointly submitted two achievements with CITIC Trust Co., Ltd. and China Mobile Group Guangdong Co., Ltd., which were selected as a Typical Case and a Potential Case respectively in the database track. To date, GBase database has been selected for the Big Data "Galaxy" Case for three consecutive years.

The national big data strategy, a critical engine for advancing China's modernization in the digital age, holds significant importance for building new national competitive advantages. To promote the vigorous development of big data technologies, products, and related industries, and to fully unleash the immense potential of data as a new factor of production, CAICT and CCSA TC601 have jointly organized the Big Data "Galaxy" Case Collection for eight consecutive years. Spanning key industries such as telecommunications, finance, government, energy, and manufacturing, the initiative demonstrates broad industry coverage and deep influence. The quality and quantity of cases have increased year by year, highlighting outstanding achievements and innovative vitality in big data applications and practices across various sectors.

The 8th Big Data "Galaxy" Case Collection covers eight tracks: Industry Data Intelligent Applications, Databases, Data Security, Data Circulation, Data Asset Management, Data Valuation and Accounting, Government Data, and Data Intelligence Infrastructure. Since its launch in August, the call for cases attracted widespread attention and enthusiastic participation, receiving over 730 submissions. After more than four months of expert review, popular voting, and final oral defense, a total of 262 cases were selected, including 15 Typical Cases and 23 Potential Cases in the database track.

Typical Case

CITIC Trust Inclusive Finance System Based on GBase Database: Application Innovation Practice

CITIC Trust has thoroughly implemented the overall deployment of the Central Financial Work Conference on the five priority areas of finance (technology, green, inclusive, pension, and digital finance). Leveraging its fintech strengths, the company independently developed an inclusive finance system and built a secure and trusted computing environment based on GBase 8a database, which has passed the "Secure and Reliable Evaluation," creating an integrated platform spanning capital and asset sides. GBase 8a adopts an MPP + Shared Nothing federated architecture to enhance overall cluster capabilities such as high availability, high concurrency, and efficient data loading. Tailored to the characteristics of NUMA architecture servers, a dual-instance deployment maximizes resource utilization of servers with Chinese-made chips, reducing cross-NUMA node access performance loss. The cluster employs a three-replica strategy combined with active-active disaster recovery, ensuring data consistency and accuracy, and significantly strengthening the cluster's high availability.

The inclusive finance system has built a self-controllable system for massive data storage, processing, and management, boosting data processing efficiency by over 50% and managing data at petabyte scale, effectively supporting the sustained growth of inclusive finance business.

Potential Case

Innovative Application Practice of a Large-Scale Parallel Computing Logical Cloud Data Warehouse Based on Storage-Compute Separation

As the provincial subsidiary with the largest business volume, data volume, and concurrency nationwide, Guangdong Mobile actively responded to the group's requirements for domestic substitution deployment and collaborated with GBASE to actively explore and apply cutting-edge innovations in storage-compute separation cloud data warehousing. The goal was to achieve more balanced data storage, computing, and resource allocation, solve large-scale cluster stability, high concurrency, and complex batch SQL performance issues in business systems, and enhance capabilities such as cluster scaling, data flows, tenant isolation (100+ tenants), and rational resource allocation.

Based on business needs, GBase database helped Guangdong Mobile build a new-generation big data architecture that enables unified management and analysis of deeply integrated multi-modal data. This improved development efficiency and shortened data processing timelines, comprehensively supporting provincial operations such as business analysis, real-time marketing, group reporting, self-service analysis, real-time reporting, and open services. It promoted data connectivity within the province and ensured efficient computing and business innovation for Guangdong Mobile's big data business.

As an authoritative award in the big data field, the annual "Galaxy" case selection attracts widespread attention, and its list has become an important barometer for evaluating vendors' technical capabilities and innovation. GBASE has led China's analytical database market for many years, with remarkable achievements and extensive applications in big data. This latest selection for the Big Data "Galaxy" Case will inspire GBASE to continue deepening its efforts in the big data field, strengthening technological innovation to solidify the digital and intelligent foundation, and contributing to the vigorous development and widespread adoption of the big data industry.
