[GBASE Training] GBase 8a MPP Cluster Database 2022 Third Session Training Concludes Successfully

The GBase Training Center's third training session in the Year of the Tiger, the "GBase 8a MPP Cluster Database Certification May Training Class," concluded at the end of June. Nearly 450 people registered for this training. After two weeks of study, the 8a certification exam was held from June 1st to 5th. A total of 244 people took the exam, and 225 passed, earning the GBase 8a MPP Cluster Database Administrator certificate.

125 participants scored 90 or above. Among them, 16 outstanding participants were selected for the honor roll of this training session and will receive a free printed GBase Administrator certificate!

The training concluded successfully. Printed certificates began shipping on June 23rd. Due to the impact of the pandemic in some areas, delivery may be delayed. Please check for your certificate accordingly!

Outstanding Participants Share Their Training Experience

Peng Zhuang, System Administrator at Chengfang Jinxin: Through this training, I learned that GBase 8a is positioned as a NewSQL analytical database and gained a preliminary understanding of its core technical concepts, including columnar storage, compression, smart indexing, parallel computing, high availability, and data integration—a truly comprehensive overview. The hands-on guidance allowed me to independently complete database installation, routine monitoring commands, common operational tasks, and SQL operations. What surprised me most was the extensive discussion and summary of SQL concepts. In the past, my understanding of SQL was superficial, often limited to the surface level. The training included the instructor's massive compilation of SQL insights and practical experience, covering DDL, DML, DQL, DCL, and common uses of system databases. Through these days of training, I have gained a deeper understanding and mastery of SQL, laying a more solid foundation for comprehending complex SQL queries I may encounter in future operations and maintenance.

Zha Tianjie, Project Manager at Nanjing Ruiyue Technology Co., Ltd.: When I first encountered GBase database, a series of questions arose: Is the installation of a domestic database cumbersome? Does it require a special OS? Is subsequent maintenance and upgrade convenient? Is original data migration easy? Do SQL statements need major modifications? With these questions in mind, I started with the introductory video on GBase and went through courses on installation, configuration parameters, tuning, basic DML and DDL. I found that my initial concerns were perhaps unnecessary. The manufacturer has already properly addressed all aspects that need consideration. Combined with the authoritative explanations from the training instructor, my previous questions were resolved, and the training also inspired some new ideas for my current work. While trying to deploy and use the GBase database, I further understood its distributed and cluster-based management model, which makes both vertical and horizontal scaling convenient and reduces the cost of big data storage. Thanks to JDBC support and adherence to international SQL standards, developers save additional learning costs, reducing project development costs and cycles.

Yang Qun, Project Manager at Neusoft Corporation: In April 2022, at a friend's invitation, I participated in the online training for GBase 8s. That training made me realize the promising momentum of domestic databases—they are fully capable and ready to replace foreign databases. Therefore, I continued to participate in the May public training for GBase 8a MPP Cluster. These two training sessions demonstrated the strength of domestic databases, especially GBase 8a MPP Cluster. Whether in architecture design, parallel computing, security management, performance benchmarks, integration and scalability, or stability and reliability, GBase 8a MPP Cluster has showcased its formidable capabilities. In future projects, I will consider using the GBase 8a MPP Cluster database as needed.

Wang Huiping, Data Development Engineer at China Academy of Railway Sciences: Due to business needs, I participated in the GBase 8a cluster training course held by General Data Technology in May 2022. In my previous work, I had mostly dealt with mainstream foreign databases. This was my first encounter with a domestic database, and I approached the training with curiosity. This systematic study gave me a much clearer overall understanding of the GBase database. In our daily work, we use the GBase database for thematic analysis. Its distributed performance is very friendly, and you can see the specific execution process in the SQL execution plan, which is also very helpful for SQL tuning. Yang Wen, DBA at Shanghai Aikesheng Technology Co., Ltd.: In recent years, as major powers increasingly resort to "chokehold" tactics, China has placed greater emphasis on indigenous IT innovation and self-reliance. Learning and using domestic databases has become a necessity rather than an option. I first heard about GBase during casual chats with colleagues, but I had never actually used it, which felt a bit embarrassing. So I started gradually reviewing the official documentation. Later, I joined the relevant GBase training. In this GBase 8a training system (the GBase product line is extensive, and I would recommend learning them all if you have time), the main courses covered 8a cluster installation, uninstallation, upgrades, and SQL development. The course unlocked one lesson per day, allowing fragmented learning—very suitable for working professionals. There was also a dedicated learning and communication group where instructors and peers were always happy to discuss issues. You never have to worry about unanswered questions during training.
