Published on 2022-07-07

In 2022, GBase continues to hold online certification training for GBase series databases. GBase users and partners remain enthusiastic, with high registration numbers. The fourth "GBase 8a MPP Cluster Database Certification Training Course" of this year is planned for July. As always, the certification training is free, with classes starting on July 18. Enthusiasts of Chinese database products are welcome to register!

Product Introduction

GBase 8a MPP Cluster (referred to as 8a Cluster) is a large-scale distributed parallel processing database cluster independently developed by GBase and a leading solution in China. It has been widely deployed in sectors such as finance, telecommunications, government, defense, and enterprises. The 8a Cluster has become a robust foundation for data warehousing and decision support systems, with nearly 90% of users reporting superior performance and comprehensive functionality. Such positive market feedback is driving growing demand for in-depth learning.

Course Introduction

This course starts from the basics of the 8a Cluster product, covering the principles and fundamental usage of the 8a Cluster database. The entire course is divided into two phases: learning and examination. It features 14 days of study, two unit quizzes, and two certification exam attempts. Training and exams are conducted via an online learning platform. With a well-structured schedule, learners can gradually and easily master the fundamentals of the Chinese database.

Learning Objectives:

  • Help learners understand the working principles, functional features, and deployment strategies of the 8a Cluster, and establish fundamental concepts of MPP database architecture;

  • Enable learners to master the installation, management, and maintenance of the 8a Cluster database and handle common cluster status issues;

  • Equip learners with data operation skills on a single virtual cluster database, including CRUD operations, user privilege management and assignment, and querying system tables.

Training Schedule

  • July 1-17: Registration

  • July 18-30: Unlock one lesson per day for study

  • August 4-6: Certification exam (2 attempts)

What Previous Participants Say

A technology department manager at a bank: This remote training was very convenient. Not only was it free, but cloud servers were also provided for hands-on practice. The most valuable part was the detailed explanations in the videos. The instructors answered questions in the group patiently and promptly. We approached the training with specific problems in mind, which made our learning more targeted. For example, the lesson on clients helped us correct some previously inaccurate practices.

Auditor at Jiangxi Bank Head Office: This training featured a novel approach that focused on the learner experience. Unlike one-way lecturing, it emphasized interaction and communication. After the training, course notes were organized and shared with participants. Post-class exercises and periodic tests played an important role in reinforcing and verifying learning outcomes. The instructors’ patient and detailed guidance provided every participant—regardless of background—a strong start in quickly mastering, deepening their understanding, and getting hands-on exposure to the product.

Hand Information Big Data Project Manager: The course spanned over ten days, requiring only 1-2 hours a day. It covered everything from GBase's history and features to deployment, installation, routine usage, and monitoring—very comprehensive. Only after passing unit quizzes could you attempt the final certification. High scorers and active participants could even enjoy fee waivers. I must say the arrangement was spot on—both a "carrot" and a "stick," haha. I love this model: it motivates widespread participation and interest, and prevents the course from becoming a mere formality. I highly recommend those who haven't joined yet to jump into the next session.

Technical Expert at Bank of Chongqing Technology Department: To address the performance bottlenecks of centralized database architectures in data analysis systems, Bank of Chongqing conducted comparative tests on multiple products in terms of high availability, stability, cluster functionality, and performance. Ultimately, GBase 8a MPP Cluster was chosen to build a next-generation data warehouse. Through this training, I gained deeper understanding and hands-on practice with GBase 8a MPP Cluster’s infrastructure, core technologies, applicable scenarios, and SQL usage, building a technical foundation for future work.

IT Product Manager at Jiangsu Mobile: The instructor's teaching was like a sumptuous feast, exquisitely presented in the training sessions. Truly, "a single conversation with a wise person is better than ten years of study." The instructor unreservedly shared personal experience in a clear and profound way—it was brilliant.

Architect at a Hubei archival technology company: The free GBase training gave me a whole new understanding of GBase's products. The curriculum covered a lot of content; I spent a few days intensively studying. The videos were very useful, and I applied most of what I learned during testing. The database's SQL compatibility is also excellent—other than a few specific syntax differences, it is broadly compatible with common databases. I even tried migrating a previous project to GBase, which turned out to be quite simple. I especially want to mention that the training is free, whereas similar vendor training can cost thousands of yuan. I think that's commendable; it shows GBase is focused on building a genuine ecosystem rather than just chasing profit. I believe a company with such integrity will produce great products.
