[GBASE Activity] Industry-Academia-Research Win-Win Cooperation: GBase's Zhao Wei Joins CCF Database Technical Committee
After decades of effort, Chinese databases have reached parity with foreign products in specific scenarios within niche markets. Yet this also means that the previous follower strategy and latecomer advantages can no longer be sustained.
In particular, Chinese chips widely adopt ARM many-core architecture and NUMA; non-volatile memory is nearing mass production; virtualization and software-defined storage are maturing; AI empowers database technology to advance autonomous capabilities; 5G drives IoT connectivity and accelerates development; industry customers' information architectures are rapidly moving to the cloud, and cloud-native databases and data middle platforms are beginning to disrupt the traditional license-based commercial database business model.
How can GBase seize the innovation opportunities brought by the new generation of information technology, and deliver products that are better aligned with customer needs and enhance customer value, thus creating new market opportunities? It must avoid working in isolation. Instead, it needs to build extensive connections within the database industry and academia, humbly seek advice, and draw nourishment from the academic research of experts and professors to continuously recharge and unlock its innovation potential. To this end, GBase actively participates in various activities of the CCF (China Computer Federation) and its technical committees.
At the working meeting of the CCF Database Technical Committee on October 11, 2019, Zhao Wei, Senior Vice President of GBase, was elected as a member of the committee. This reflects the recognition from China's academic community of GBase's 15 years of dedication and market achievements in the Chinese database industry, and demonstrates the company's deep commitment to collaboration with the academic community. GBase will further promote the integration of industry, academia, and research in database technology, jointly contributing to the national strategy for foundational software development and safeguarding national cyber and information security.
