Product Introduction

GBase 8a MPP Cluster (hereinafter referred to as "8a Cluster") is a leading, independently developed large-scale massively parallel processing (MPP) database cluster by General Data Technology, also known as a distributed logical data warehouse. It meets the growing demands of data-intensive industries for data analysis, data mining, data backup, and ad-hoc querying. GBase 8a MPP Cluster supports over 200 large enterprise users both domestically and internationally. In China, it underpins critical business systems such as the Agricultural Bank of China's core data warehouse, Bank of China's big data platform, the State Grid Corporation of China's full-service center analytics domain data warehouse, China Mobile Group's centralized business analysis data warehouse, and big data platforms across more than 20 provinces for China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom. Internationally, GBase 8a MPP Cluster has been deployed in over 30 countries, including the United States, Russia, Germany, Mexico, and Pakistan. Currently, the total number of deployed nodes exceeds 45,000, managing over 400PB of data.

Course Introduction

This course series starts from scratch with the 8a Cluster, covering its basic principles, operations, and SQL syntax. The entire course is divided into two phases: learning and examination, featuring 10 days of study, two mock exam opportunities, and two certification exam opportunities. It combines self-paced online learning, online coaching, and online exams, integrating theory with practice to help you master the fundamentals of domestic databases step-by-step with ease.

Learning Objectives:

  • Help participants understand the working principles, functional features, and deployment strategies of the 8a Cluster, and establish a basic understanding of MPP database architecture.

  • Enable participants to master the installation, management, and maintenance of the 8a Cluster database, and troubleshoot some abnormal cluster statuses.

  • Enable participants to perform data operations on a single virtual cluster database, such as CRUD operations on database tables, managing and assigning user permissions, and querying system tables.

Testimonials from Past Participants

IT Product Manager at China Mobile Jiangsu: The instructor's lecture was like a sumptuous feast, elegantly presented in the training class. It truly is a case of "a single conversation with a wise person is worth more than ten years of study." The instructor unreservedly shared their experience, explaining profound concepts in simple terms, making the session absolutely brilliant.

Manager of Technology Department at a Bank in Macau: The remote training was very convenient. Not only was it free, but cloud servers were also provided for hands-on practice. The core benefit was the detailed explanation of knowledge points in the videos, and the instructor's patient and timely responses in the group. As we were studying with questions to resolve, it was more targeted. For instance, the lesson on the client module helped us correct some previously inaccurate usages.

Auditor at the Head Office of Jiangxi Bank: The training format was innovative, emphasizing the participants' experience. Unlike traditional lecture-only models, it stressed interaction and communication. Course notes and materials were organized and shared with us afterwards. Additionally, post-class exercises and periodic tests played a significant role in reinforcing learning outcomes and validating our study effectiveness. The instructor's Q&A sessions and detailed explanations provided a great starting point for participants from various backgrounds to quickly grasp, deepen their understanding of, and get hands-on with the product for future use.

Technical Expert at the Technology Department of Bank of Chongqing: To address the performance bottlenecks of centralized database architectures in data analytics systems, Bank of Chongqing conducted comparative tests on multiple products in terms of high availability, stability, cluster functionality, and cluster performance. They ultimately chose GBase 8a MPP Cluster to build their next-generation data warehouse. Through this training, I gained a deeper understanding of the fundamental architecture, core technologies, applicable scenarios, and SQL usage of GBase 8a MPP Cluster, along with hands-on practice opportunities, which has built a technical reserve for my future work.

Big Data Project Manager at Hand Information: This training course lasted over ten days, requiring only 1-2 hours of commitment each day. It was very comprehensive, covering GBase's history, features, deployment, installation, routine usage, and monitoring. Only after completing unit quizzes could you take the final certification exam. High performers and highly engaged participants could get discounts waiving the exam and certificate fees. I have to say, the arrangement was spot on—you get the 'carrot' and also the 'stick', haha. I like this model. It stimulates interest, encourages widespread participation, and prevents the course from becoming a mere formality. I highly recommend those who haven't participated yet to join as soon as possible.

Architect at a File Technology Company in Hubei: The free GBase training gave me a brand new understanding of General Data Technology's products. There was a lot of learning content; I spent a few days on intensive study and found the video content very useful. I was able to apply most of it in my tests, and the database's SQL compatibility is also very good. Except for a few specific syntaxes, it is mostly compatible with common database products. I also tried migrating previous projects to the GBase database and felt it was quite simple. One thing I must mention is that the training is free, whereas similar training from other vendors can cost thousands, which I think shows integrity. It is clear that General Data Technology is building a real ecosystem rather than just chasing money, and I believe products made by such a conscientious company will be excellent.
