China Database Industry Map (2026): GBase Leads the China-Developed Full-Stack Database Sector
On July 9, 2026, the "2026 Trusted Database Development Conference," hosted by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) and guided by the China Communications Standards Association, was held in Beijing.At the conference, the "China Database Industry Map (2026)" was officially released. The GBase database was once again recognized as a leader in analytical databases for the financial and telecommunications industries and was ranked among the top transactional databases in key sectors including telecommunications, finance, transportation, government, energy, healthcare, and manufacturing, totaling twenty-one recognitions.
The "China Database Industry Map" is compiled by CAICT in collaboration with the China Communications Standards Association and has been published annually since 2021. Compared with the 2025 edition, the 2026 map features significant upgrades in its evaluation dimensions and industry granularity. Within the core transactional database segment, the map retains the identifiers of "Leader" and "Competitor," and further refines the categorization for critical industries such as finance, energy, and transportation.
Analytical Databases: A Leader in Both Finance and Telecom
In the analytical database domain, the GBase database was recognized as a leader in both the financial and telecommunications industries. It was also included in the energy and government sectors, covering four major industries in the analytical database category.

A major state-owned bank built a big data platform using a converged architecture of GBase and Hadoop, deploying over 7,000 nodes and managing over 100PB of data. This was the largest data warehouse in China's financial industry at the time, and the project won the "First Prize for Banking Technology Development" from the People's Bank of China.
Telecommunications Industry
General Data Technology has been serving telecom operator clients since 2005. In 2014, it won the bid for China Mobile's centralized business analysis system project, outperforming numerous international giants and achieving a breakthrough for China-developed databases in a mission-critical telecom operator system. This project now involves over 2,000 cluster nodes managing 20PB of data. It was recognized as a "Leader" in the telecom and government sectors, with all other sectors ranked in the "Competitor" tier.
Financial Sector, Featured in Multiple Sub-categories
The map segments the finance category into banking, securities, and insurance. The GBase database was selected for the "Competitor" tier in five directions: large state-owned commercial banks, rural commercial banks & credit cooperatives, securities, and insurance.
In the banking sector, a top-tier city commercial bank adopted the GBase database to replace its legacy database, with its core business query system supporting a peak load of 20,000 transactions per second with millisecond-level response latency, achieving financial-grade standards of RPO=0 and RTO<30 seconds. Luzhou Bank uniformly replaced its legacy Oracle and multiple MySQL database architecture with the GBase database, reducing nightly batch job processing time from 2.5-3 hours down to around 30 minutes. In the insurance sector, the GBase transactional database has also achieved large-scale deployment. In 2025, the GBase database won bids for four major insurance application innovation projects in a row. To date, the GBase database serves over 240 financial institutions with 20,000+ sets deployed. A CCID Consulting report ranks it first in user penetration within the financial industry.
Telecom and Government Sectors, Listed as a "Leader"
In the telecommunications field, the GBase database has been deployed at scale across operator B-domain, O-domain, and M-domain systems. China Mobile alone has deployed it on over 7,000 nodes managing 70PB of data. In the government sector, the GBase database is deployed on national-level platforms, including the e-government system of the Henan Provincial Party Committee, the Ministry of Finance's national budget summary system, and the Ministry of Civil Affairs' Golden Civil Affairs Project, covering over 40 central ministries and commissions—such as development & reform, public security, taxation, finance, and customs—and all 32 provinces and municipalities.
GBase has also established standardized implementation cases in the energy, transportation, healthcare, and manufacturing sectors: The oil and gas pipeline SCADA system of China Oil & Gas Piping Network Corporation (PipeChina) runs on the GBase database, having operated stably for over four years with zero major outages and nearly a thousand sets deployed. The Suzhou branch of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University achieved a smooth, localized migration of its core Hospital Information System (HIS) with the GBase database. Both Foshan Electrical and Lighting Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen Metro have chosen the GBase database to support their highly reliable, continuous operations, demonstrating GBase's expanding capabilities across diverse industry scenarios.

The 2026 edition of the map added a new category: "Shared-Storage Architecture Databases," and the GBase database was included. In April 2026, GBase 8s passed CAICT's "Basic Capabilities of Databases Based on Shared-Storage Architecture" product test, becoming the first database product in China to pass this test. In the database security field, the GBase database was included in the "Tamper-Proof Database" category. To date, three core GBase products—GBase 8s (centralized, 2023), GBase 8a (distributed, 2024), and GBase 8c (distributed, 2026)—have all passed China's national security and reliability assessment.

In terms of leadership, its analytical database was recognized as a leader in both the financial and telecom industries, and its transactional database was also placed in the leader tier for the telecom and government sectors—ranking among the top tier across two major segments and four major industries. In terms of comprehensiveness, its analytical database covers four industries: finance, telecom, energy, and government; its transactional database spans seven industries: finance, telecom, government, transportation, energy, manufacturing, and healthcare. The inclusion in the two cutting-edge categories of shared-storage architecture and tamper-proof databases further confirms GBase's sustained breakthroughs and forward-looking strategic layout in frontier technical areas. A GBase that is both "a leader and comprehensive" has become an indispensable core force in China's database landscape.
