Database Upgrade and Renovation Project of Zijin Rural Commercial Bank

Project Background

As Zijin Rural Commercial Bank experienced rapid growth in both business and data volumes, its original database could no longer meet operational demands. Specifically, query analysis under high concurrency and heavy workloads became increasingly slow, urgently requiring faster response times. Business-related SQL queries were highly complex, placing significant performance demands on the underlying database and requiring more timely data services. In terms of scalability, the traditional architecture offered very limited room for expansion in both computing and storage capacity, failing to meet the future system scaling requirements of audit operations. Additionally, the system needed a high cost-effectiveness ratio to avoid unsustainable maintenance and expansion due to excessive costs down the line.

Solutions

Zijin Rural Commercial Bank uses GBase 8a MPP Cluster as the data foundation for EAST regulatory reporting, confirmation processing, corporate customer profiling, and marketing profiling. By building and running complex data models based on application requirements, query performance increases manyfold compared to traditional databases. GBase 8a MPP Cluster also delivers extreme scalability, meeting the bank's future system upgrade plans and business growth demands.

Results

Built a 4-node cluster for EAST, confirmation letters, corporate customer profiling, and marketing profiling with a 2-replica data mechanism to ensure high data availability.

Complex business model performance improvement: GBase 8a’s standout advantages in columnar storage, smart indexing, and massively parallel processing (MPP) efficiently handle the aggregation, mining, and analysis of all types of massive data, as well as various complex models.

Scalability improvement: Leverages GBase 8a’s horizontal scaling capability to support more data, businesses, and users in the future.
