New Year, New Products: GBase Holds R&D Award Ceremony

On January 10, 2020, the closed-development project team from GBase’s Data Management Product Business Unit was honored with a company technical award at a grand ceremony. General Manager Yu Changpu presided and spoke, while Wang Xuesong, Head of R&D of the Data Management Product Business Unit, gave a summary of the closed development effort.

The closed-development project team from the Data Management Product Business Unit spent two months successfully completing several project tasks, including the development of GBase 8s MPP. These efforts have laid a solid foundation for maintaining the technical leadership of our transactional database products, enhancing product compatibility, and ensuring stable operation in core business systems across critical industries—achieving the intended goals. The Data Management Product Business Unit received a company technical award.

GBase 8s MPP Development

We completed development of the GBase 8s MPP version, featuring capabilities such as read/write splitting and sharding distribution rules. Additionally, we developed the GBase 8s MPP configuration management tool, loading tool, enterprise manager, and monitoring tool, providing a complete suite of on-site O&M solutions. The release of GBase 8s MPP and its supporting tools fills GBase's gap in distributed transactional database products. This product not only delivers higher performance for certain projects but also establishes a solid foundation for promoting GBase's database products in core business systems of critical industries such as finance and telecommunications.

PL/SQL Syntax Compatibility

We achieved GBase 8s compatibility with PL/SQL syntax, covering features such as structured control statements, Static SQL, Dynamic SQL, and exception handling. With PL/SQL compatibility, GBase 8s transforms the traditionally complex process of rewriting and porting stored procedures during Oracle migrations. Stored procedures can now run directly, significantly improving migration efficiency, reducing complexity, and minimizing potential issues. This release keeps GBase's transactional database at a competitive advantage in the market.

Phase III of a Project Platform

We completed adaptation and release of GBase 8s for Phase III of a project platform, supporting Loongson, Phytium, Hygon, and Zhaoxin architectures. This version meets growing market demand for advanced features such as CTE (Common Table Expression) and delivers significant performance improvements.

At the award ceremony, General Manager Yu encouraged the team: “With great market opportunities ahead, GBase 8s is a core product in China’s homegrown database portfolio.
